Just imagine the inside of that cockpit. *pounding of a broken radio, followed by intense italian long-winded swearing*
@bongobrandy62977 жыл бұрын
Italian pilots were known for drowning out vocal radio traffic with their furious hand flapping and wapping. The turbulance in the canopy just sounded like a lot of high speed wind. Their radios worked just fine. You just could not tell the difference.
@lesnainss7 жыл бұрын
That or the radios were bad on purpose so the pilots could continue the long standing tradition of Italians waggling their hands about when talking to one another.

"Experimental Cannoli". That's all I can hear right now.
@alphapt93707 жыл бұрын
Fair point. Although my italian is a bit rusty, there is no reference towards that being "what they meant" when they assigned the EC designation for this prototype. What I can find, is speculation on "what it could mean" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macchi_C.202), "probably meaning Esperimento Cannoni", but there is no reference towards that in the italian version. The only other reference I find about that designation is on the WT forums, so they can be wrong as well. It could be a case of someone making an assumption, and everyone else running with it as it was gospel. ... i'd still stick with experimental cannoli. Because it's funny like that. And much love to Italy, mind you, before you get upset.

As if Italians had any problems using handgestures to communicate. They do it all the time. Even today. I can assure you italien people can communicate better by just using their hands than any of the allied pilots could with a working radio.

that engine landing is a very good way to save slowdown time, some planes you can even belly land and save up to 30 seconds on landing the plane normally
@hoen20097 жыл бұрын
It does ruin the immersion though, landing on landing gear looks way better :).

Copschrotter You still look like a donkey doing this. No skilled pilot would land a plane like this to save time.
@gideonokun55387 жыл бұрын
Burrying the nose into the ground and destroying the propellor results in a much longer repair time. Most jets, on the other hand, can use their BALLS (Belly Assisted (totally) Legitimate Landing System) to make short landings at insane speeds with no penalty, due to their engine not getting destroyed on impact.

Actually Jingles, this wasn't a Jingles landing. While I'm not a fan of that tactic, because well....it just looks silly, he put his nose into the ground on purpose as you slow down way faster this way, and such are back up faster. It's the same with me 262 landing on their engines.
@miskatonic62107 жыл бұрын
NDGR97 You're not in the air faster when you damage your engine doing so. And you can also slow down faster without looking like a donkey when you know how to land.

Sirion you stop faster and get in the air quicker. Also damaging the engine has little to no effect on repair time.

Sirion Nissan U. is right about that. You might end up repairing 1 or 2 seconds longer, but you save a lot more time by not having to slow down the plane by conventional methods

Nice video Jingles! About the uncontrollability: The local air velocity over a wing increases, reaches a maximum and then decreases again. At some velocity w.r.t the speed of sound (Mach number) the air velocity reaches the speed of sound. This is called the critical mach number. Above this speed, shockwaves will occur when the air is slowing down again. These shockwaves drastically change the aerodynamic characteristics causing the nose to pitch down (not good because the speed increases even more) and/or control reversal (also not good for the pilot's control over the aircraft). Many aircraft crashed that way, but nowadays most aircraft have measures against it. There is some good information on the subject on Wikipedia.

No jingless, compressibility means high pressure in front of the wing, stalled airflow over the wing - and low pressure around control surfaces - so no matter how hard you deflect the elevator, it does not respond. >Quite different from what is called compressibility in WT.

Hello Jingles :) A tip for the "jingles landing" As Senerox demonstrated very well in this replay such a landing can be beneficial! It slows you down FAST if you push the nose to the ground and if you got a GREAT ground crew the repair speed is actually faster then the rearm and landing speed of a normal landing.

Jingles, I honest to Gods don't care what you upload, as long as you keep uploading. The recent events have shown that despite what you might pretend to be, a cold-hearted gnome -- and such you are, o'glorious Gnomish Overlord -- you aren't afraid of putting your foot to the ground and standing by what you hold dear. Such honesty and spine are sadly rare traits these days, and as before you have shown yourself to be like a shining beacon of reason and wisdom in this wallowing sea of dark chaos that is the internet. I, by the honor of the Templar, swear to remain subscribed to the very end, no matter what happens. Having said that, now I'll just go and crawl back to my little dark corner of the salt mines.

Jingles, I remember you mentioning it, that showcasing War Thunder replays can be boring, but one aspect of why I keep coming to your channel and what makes you stand out from the crowd your historic coverage of the vehicles. i don't play World of Tanks, at the most played 2-4 tier 2 games before realizing it wasn't for me, but I still enjoy the content of WoT, which the community puts out. When a new tank comes out I watch Quickybabies reviews for the performance/ pro's- con's and yours for the historic background. Jingles, your style of making videos, your persona and the "original" feeling your videos have make me come to your channel everyday, since Mingles with Jingles ~50+. You are awesome and regardless of the game, you are the reason why I -at least- give every video you upload a try (and watch them through most of the times :P). Heck you can even make me watch Hello Kitty World online xD. Stay awesome and stay who you are, Mighty Overlord :)(
@glenverbelen5224 жыл бұрын
Dear M Jingles, the landing manoeuvre was in fact an official side step move used by pilots. This quickly reduces speed or altitude depending on your own nose position and angle of attack. To perform that in a game, is need work. Keep up the work

It's worth mentioning, given the opening, that Clive Caldwell was also regarded as one of the least honorable pilots of the war. He is recorded as shooting multiple enemy pilots under their parachutes after they bailed out of downed planes. That's something difficult to support, regardless of a mediocre killcount.

Jingles, alot of players plant the nose of their aircraft into the ground on landing as its quicker to do that, stop and get a 30 second repair than it is to rely on breaks to stop. especialy if you have wing damage and will get a 20-30 second repair anyway. its very common for pilots to put the 262 down on its engines so they can land on smaller runways and get back up quicker.
@chazza4047 жыл бұрын
A novel design solution of the MC 202 "Despite the hefty turning power of their V12 engines, MC 202s did not veer to one side under acceleration on take-off because, ingeniously, their left wings were twenty-one centimetres longer than their right wings: the longer wing generated more lift and so counteracted what would have been the aircraft's normal tendency to turn to the left." Excerpt from Spitfire: The Biography by Jonathan Glancey
@BatteredWalrus7 жыл бұрын
that jingles landing is a tactic players use to slow quicker, similar to how Me262 pilots land on their engines instead of the landing gear, it just increases repair time by a few seconds

Clive Caldwell also has an infamous reputation for strafing pilots under their parachutes, most notably against a pilot from JG-27. This caused the Commander of JG 27 to announce to his squadron that he would immediately ground and discharge anyone in JG 27 who strafed a pilot that was already shot down.
