Six people did not like this video? I am gonna create 6 new accounts and watch this video and give it a thumbs up, just to spite these Mustang-haters!

I had the unexpected pleasure of seeing Aluminum Overcast at KHYA barely a week or so after Nine-O-Nine's fate. The plane was surroundes by firetrucks and most everyone was rather downtrodden, but trying to be upbeat. I don't blame them one bit. I have nothing but a keychain and a powderless .50 to remember Nine-O-Nine by. And she held a special place in my heart. Nine-O-Nine was the spark that lit the fire under my ass to get my career in aviation started. October 1st, 2017. She came to KBEV. I was in an alltime low in my life when i heard a group of warbirds were goonna be there. I took a train to the nearest station and took an uber from there. (Hadnt owned a car yet) Walking up to them that morning was my first exposure to airplanes up close in near 10 years, my first time having the freedoms of an adult around planes. my first time ever moving a propeller, and my heart began pumping the closest thing to true motivation I Have ever experienced in my (at the time) 23 years of life. *I owe **_everything_** to Nine-O-Nine and to her crew...* So you can understand why her loss cut me very deeply....even typing this comment im brought to tears... May Nine-O-Nine and her faithful crew Rest In Peace. And to the F.A.A. *Do not bar Collins from flying these national treasures.* The worst thing they could do is condemn all of them to the museums. It's one thing to see what a warbird looks like. It's a whole nother deal to get to see ut fly, and hear those marvelous engines. _And it sure as hell is a special moment when people get to _*_fly_*_ In them! To experience flight in these living artifacts firsthand! To experience but a taste of what our grandfathers went through when they were our age._ The members of the Collins Foundation know the risks involved with these planes. They know the dangers. And they all accept them. They get the specialty/niche training required to properly maintain these aircraft. And there are an ENDLEASS number of people willing to fill those slots and to volunteer to keep these beauties flying. And i havent even BEGUN talking about the restorations of newfound project planes like Doc. These old planes, in performing airworthy condition, are historically priceless. Their sentimental value is equally important. Their presence is one of a kind. And these people work *hard* to keep them going. Their children love them. Even when they hear about incidents like Nine-O-Nine. They want to grow up to help with these classic airplanes. The worst thing the F.A.A. can ever do, is bar these planes from flying. It will be the greatest disservice to the aviation world they could ever do. And it would be an insult to what the men and women who dealt with these planes risked, or lost, their lives for.

Couldn't have said it better. Warbird should not be caged. They need to breathe and fly. Like you said, it's one thing to see it but it's a whole different experience to hear them roar. I love the sound of a radial engine idling, brrruupp brrruupp brrruupp. I can tell the difference between the sound of a P-40 and a P-51, very distinct. When I saw a P-38 in person I was amazed at how quiet those engines were. Never would have imagined it had I not heard it in person. That is something you can't get from a static display.
