Batrep Editing Notes + After Action Review *** Editing Notes *** At the risk of sounding like a broken record, family life & work were very hectic, busy, & stressful the past 6 weeks - especially the last few weeks. As I struggled to find time to finish the video, the harddrive that gave me trouble last summer finally crashed completely. I couldn’t even get it to repair in order to boot up and copy my files over. Thankfully, I had everything fairly well backed up, but it was just one more roadblock in getting it done. With this being my first Warcaster batrep, there was a lot of extra work since the majority of the sound and visual effects that I use for Warmachine don’t fit a sci-fi game like Warcaster. So, I lost a lot of time having to create new custom effects. Now that I’ve got the effects created, making future videos won’t have these same delays. Because of the slow process, I opted to go with some “standard” timings in the game. By that I mean that there’s a 1 second gap between all significant asset and all dice rolls are visible on screen for a set 5 seconds. Many of the smaller rolls should probably be 3-4 seconds, but I realized as I struggled on many sleepless nights to find at least 30 minutes to work on the video, I had to make some sacrifices to hit the finish line or else I’d burn out completely before I got it finished. Once again, I apologize for both the delay in this video's release as well as the quality of certain things being less than what I strive for. Mistakes made either in filming or game play: 1 - In Pulse Round 2, Harlan Sek was targeted by a Fire Fury Cypher that caught him on fire. Sek has an “Environmental Suit” that makes him immune to fire damage & the fire continuous effect. Thankfully, he was unharmed in the initial Fury Cypher damage roll and his attack rolls while on fire were still hits despite having 1 fewer dice. I noted it in the video with text. 2 - In Pulse Round 2, there was a turn where I activated a warjack & squad, which isn’t allowed. I should have activated the squad in the turn before where I activated solo (Weaver) and saved the solo’s activation for the turn with the warjack. Thankfully, playing them out of order didn’t have any affect on how the game played out. 3 - There was one time where Harlan Sek put out a void gate, but I forgot to film it. I noted it in the video with text. *** AAR *** Donna: All I’ve ever played is Aeternus Continuum. So, I felt like I have an okay handle on using them together well, but this was my first game with a Raker and Harlan Sek. Poor Harlan got targeted a lot and took way more damage than I was comfortable with. That made me have to keep charging him so he could keep healing himself. I got a little too comfortable with him late in the game & paid for it. The Raker was fun, especially against Marcher Worlds. Being able to take away their Stealth was fun, even if my shots didn’t do enough damage. Using the Grafter to bring back some Vassal Reavers helped a lot to keep Jason from getting to the top right objective midway through the game. I think what cost me the game was having to pull my Marauder back so early. My plan was to jump on scoring the 2 closest objectives early on, but I got worried when he took so much damage on Jason’s turn 1. I also got out maneuvered in round 2 & 3. Jason got too much of a break away lead and I wasn’t able to close the gap. Jason: This was my first game running 2 warjacks. My plan at first was to have one try to dominate a different side of the battlefield, but with Razor and her Marauder trading some heavy punches early on, I pulled him back to redeploy later. Spike did some solid work from early scoring to putting a hurting on both the Marauder & Reavers. I wanted to try to swarm objectives and fight from positions that would keep Donna from getting models into contesting positions. For the most part, I was able to do that in some crucial moments. I think that was really the key to getting the win - playing defensively with my offense. Blocking her from scoring while getting in what shots I could to whittle away at her models.

Thank you! I started making Warmachine batreps last summer & just started making them for Warcaster. Our next Batrep will be Empyreans vs Aeternus Continuum.

This was fantastic. Keep up the great work. I haven't played this game in a long time. I still have my stuff from the last kickstarter sitting in the box. A couple of people have mentioned playing it, I shared the video and maybe this will light a fire for some of us to dust these models off and get some games in.

Cool batrep.... glad to see you guys having fun with the game... I love warcaster and wish it had caught on more. What rules were you guys using for your cypher decks? Shouldn't they be 12 cards? Am I missing something. Also it ended up not mattering when the vassals shot at the sniper but he would have gotten cover... Anytime you are on a higher elevation you essentially get cover. Keep it up and have fun

Each player did have 12 Cypher cards. AC had: Overdrive: Kinetic Accelerator, Interdiction Protocol, & Ascension Catalyst Fury: Instability Equation, Velocity Projector, & Cryo Lock Harmonic: Recall Initiative, Arcane Synthesis, & Aggression Theorem Geometric: Reiteration Complex, Force Barrier, & Plexus Densifier MW had: Overdrive: Momentum Calibrator, Impulse Inducer, & Annihilation Vector Fury: Pyrokinetic Surge, Malediction Rubric, & Null Collider Harmonic: Encrypted Command, Revelation Matrix, & Divination Algorithm Geometric: Temporal Cycle, Displacement Index, & Mortality Destabilizer We each played a fair amount of cards that caused us to deplete our draw deck & reshuffle the discard piles. That's why a couple of cards were seen more than once by the time the game ended. As for the Hunter / cover, that was missed in game, but caught in editing. I was supposed to put a text note pointing out the mistake, but missed it. Sorry.
