i like the guardmen. Unlike the transhuman, power armor wearing golden boys. The guard only has armor that is tough as tissue paper, a flashlight and balls of titanium. The later alone makes them tougher then any astartes.

Jedi Mew There is this great quote from "The Purging of Kadillus". I can't remember it, but an Astartes tells a PDF soldier that the reason they get power armor, bolters, and their great equipment, is because they are better then a PDF trooper.

by that same logic the primias space marines are better, than the regular space marines because of improved gene-seed and better equipment. So even the astartes are crap to some extent. Where as the guardsmen don't need it. They don't get better equipment but they do make up for it in numbers and bravey. Any man that has to face a horde of Orks, chaos, tyranids or etc... has to have an abundance of courage in them. Sure some guards do fall to chaos, but then again so do the power armored golden boys. Remeber the Heresy?

Jedi Mew I'm still trying to find that quote, but the Astartes said something along the lines of, "one bolt is as hard to make as one lasgun, why waste something so valuable on an individual who probably isn't disiplined enough to make half his shots...we have this armour because we have the courage to wear it...would you risk your life to fight for someone else's home when you'll hardly be remembered?" Those aren't the exact words, but you get he jist.

Right, the Guardsmen are the best. Where is your braveness, spirit and courage if you have no fear, like a SpaceMarine? It needs a grit of Iron to confront an enemy with this little armor and confront the universe with nothing more than a flashlight and a bunch of comrades, that are only simple men - just like you. I take my hat off to them!

I prefer the Imperial Guard and Sororitas as they show what true grit humanity has. the later shows what the guard COULD be like if properly equipped and trained. stormtroops, janiseries, and kreig troops as well.

It always seemed like the inquisition treats Guardmen as nothing more than fodder. But how do individual space marine chapters interact with the guardsmen?

They treat them in many varied ways. Some chapters want nothing to do with them because they think they just get in the way. Other chapters treat them pretty much the same: as meat shields. Still other chapter actually treat them decently, rewarding competency and trying to use them properly as an allied fighting force. Very few, like the Salamanders or even the Ultramarines sometimes, treat them with respect and do their best to support them instead.

redchakranaruto The Lamenters are a Chapter that would definitely show respect to the Guardsmen, they're the closest thing to heroes in the Imperium. I've seen images of Imperial Fists fighting alongside Imperial Guard as well.

Baneblades. Lose the template and you lose the production. Titan Legions are where it is at. Those don't get produced from Templates. We custom-build those.

With those results, I think its worth the wait since a titan can be worth a whole army. With tanks, can you imagine what the production would crawl to if they had to custom-make each tank :D

Mass-producing tanks is absolutely fine, but the problem with a standard-template-construction is that when you lose the template, for instance, because an Ork waaagh crash-landed on your forge-world, that template is lost forever. In some cases that is not a bad thing, because there are forge-worlds who produce Baneblades without having the template to make the Mars-pattern Baneblade. They essentially just upscale parts from the Leman Russ tank and use those. That makes the Omnissiah sad.

We do copy STCs. That's where the lore is so inconsistent. Those forgeworlds that make counterfeit Baneblades are only able to build counterfeit Baneblades because they have semi-functional but incomplete STCs. It'll look like a Baneblade because the STC it was based on still has the hull design on it, but the other data may have been corrupted, in which case it is substituted. So why has the original STC not been copied and spread to every forge-world? Games Workshop. Personally I prefer Leman Russ tanks for my Imperial Guard army. Games Workshop made those tanks pointless when they removed Large Blast Templates, Small Blast Templates and Flamer Templates. Instead of Large-blasting an entire squad of enemies, you now have to roll a 1d6 in order to see how many you hit. Then you still have to roll to-hit. Absolutely heretical.

GrimDark Narrator remember that the adeptus mechanicus live by the theory knowledge is power to have the knowledge is to have the power they do not share even amongst themselves part of the problem is many of these things are only kept an Electro grafts in the oldest and most powerful of V Tech priests who all is still alive slowly go insane over the centuries. if the Imperium ever wanted to actually win consistently the Lord Regent would make a compact with the the xenos known as Tau have them reverse engineer everything that adeptus mechanicus constructs make a new and functional STC of it and then dominate find means of producing the very best Equipment at a rapid rate in essence recreating the age of Technology.

It baffles me in the Dawn of War games why Imperial Guard would fight the Space Marines. I mean, I know it’s an RTS and they’re two different factions, but from a plot standpoint it just doesn’t make sense.

Astra Militarum is one of the most important faction in 40k!!! I mean yes there is astartes, custodes and primaris, but the numbers the numbers.. How many gardsmen are there?? Some trillions??
