I couldn't agree more...can't wait until my SquareHammer dice arrive! Yeup just happened to bring fire magic vs wood elves hahah but I think I did a good job negating it. What killed me the most was not being able to kill the chimera after SO MANY CHANCES and my dryads doing 1 wound over 2 combats *cough* bs *cough*

Pretty sure they had asf but didn't get the reroll because they had the same initiative as the warriors...I'll have to check

Guys, remember that infantry don’t make dangerous terrain checks in normal woods, I don’t know if you were playing with some special rule; some misterious forest or something. And casualties from dangerous terrain can also cause panic (I don’t know if your chaos knigths were inmune to panic, but if they weren’t, they should have roll for panic). You forgot the fear check against the Chimera...I’m going to be your worst nightmare...😘 The chimera is a monster, so it has big target (not sure how is the name of that special rule in English); it does not get any benefit from cover. In the combat with the chimera, you were steadfast; you had one rank, that is more than the number of ranks of the chimera: 0. That is something that many people ignores, but with 1 rank you can also be steadfast. Remember to check leadership if you don’t want to pursue.

We welcome the challenge - glad to see the list is shorter than the last one :D In the situation, the wood elves got to put down 3 free woods (acorn of ages plus the free one that wood elves get). The WE player gets to choose what types of woods these are when they're placed so he chose the one that cause dangerous terrain for an model walking through it (venom thicket maybe?). The knights had mark of khorne/frenzy so were immune to psychology. I've got nothing on the chimera :D

Yeup they were mysterious! I had the acorn of ages so I get to choose what type of forests they are. Chose Venom Thickets for them all so it is dangerous terrain for everything without forest strider or ethereal. Fear is something people always forget haha I can't find the instance where I was steadfast vs the chimera? Seems like it was able to less than 5 models each time

I think the large target special rules for the Chimera being a monster just means that they cannot claim cover from an obstacle (like a wall or hedge) if at least half the model is behind or inside woods or other cover it still gains the benefit.

Actually sniper is a modifier like multiple shots, I know this comment is late but it was FAQd regarding ogre maneaters if I recall correctly, but you can snipe with as many shots as you have, so long as you take the penalties.

Blue. Boy. Look at your Dryad rules again hahaha, Wood Elves are my main army and you need EVERY rule they have to win. Dryads have Hatred and that could have made a fairly large difference also I feel like I missed something, why were the Eternal Guard not striking first/re-rolling against the Chaos Warriors? Now that I've been critical: Wood Elves are a very hard army to play and I have learned to not let it bother me if people don't run their army perfectly. If you want some small tips to maximize your Wood Elf effectiveness, feel free to ask, I love talking shop! As for the batrep, it was very entertaining and especially so for me as quality Wood Elf reports are very very difficult to find. Also question for you as I don't have my book on me: does the Forest Spirit rule say they have Forest Stalker or Forest Strider? If they aren't stalkers they dont fight in the extra rank or reroll 1s.

Agree. BUt chaos is a very hard opponent for many armies. Without moon stone, armor-breaking shots and eagles to redirect charges, there is hardly a chance of winning. Dryads < eternal guards, and only for tarpiting big blocks of warriors. Not for winning a battle.

Yeah I totally forgot they had hatred (not that it would've done much lol), The eternal guard yeah that was my mistake, should of had 5 more attacks - but they don't get a reroll because they share the same imitative as the warriors

@@erickford8724 I don't have the book on me, but I thought that if the ASF model has greater or equal initiative you get the reroll. Very true, it wouldn't have made much of a difference haha dryads make for better flankers than anything else unless you turn them into tree kin with a wyssans buff.

@@erickford8724 Thanks! My suggestions would be looking up the double flee rules. I run Sethayla style list with lots of highly mobile units. Eagles, cav and Warhawks. Sadly the nerf to the dryads in this edition made them less useful as str 3 is subpar for one of our main damage dealers. I have a few blocks of archers, waywatchers but most of my army usually is made to control my opps movement. Wildriders are my main damage dealer for CC and as long as I am careful they usually do the job. Obviously this style can be hurt by gunline style armies but the fun of using double flee is not to be undersold when facing advancing hordes! I do love the lore of life but beasts tends to be better for my style, I will usually take a high level mage with beast and a low level for life.

Agreed - yeup that's what I usually do but figured I'd go for a change and that list build is not very fun for the opponent to play against. Oh I always take lore of life for my wood elf lord since she always takes the acorn she needs that miscast protection especially since she has no ward save :0

@@erickford8724 while it might not be fun it's useful against armies like chaos or daemons as they eat US in cc. I tried other styles but GW made too many nerfs to be fun for me. Dryads and forest spirits in general shouldn't have been put on the back burner in this book .
