So great to see you doing fantasy stuff! I am so hyped for the release of The Old World. I've got several vintage Warhammer armies all on the old square bases. Hoping the rules allow us to use our legacy armies!

I think if they do increase base sizes then they will say it’s ‘optional’ etc, but like they did with AOS and using squares at launch. Makes sense to say ‘play your way’, but know at the same time people will slowly switch over. I can imagine that there will be base size converters on the market pretty if that happens, but like there was to upgrade to 32mm rounds for 40k. I miss my old armies a bit, but I’d only be stripping them to repaint now anyway. After yesterday’s announce of new plastics for Brets and TK I’ve ordered some new on sprue peasant archers (the 6th/7th Ed later sculpts, I imagine they won’t update those). I’ll probably do a video with painting tutorial for those.

@@MiniatureRealms Good points you make, I agree that people will probably switch over to the new product along with the new base sizes for the most part. I was also thinking, the new base sizes will most likely be bigger so I wonder if it would be feasible to use square 1/8" MDF bases and glue the old Warhammer square bases to those? It would only add a slight amount of height to the mini overall, and you wouldn't have to actually remove the model from the old base. But as you say, I'm sure there will be a fast reaction to creating commercial base converters of some kind for entire units or character models. I'm really hoping the new sculpts are a genuinely updated aesthetic but still captures the original Old World feel. I'm open to buying at least two of the new armies for the game, which will make the base sizes not an issue. I'm just terrified to see what the prices will be, lol.

Yeah I think there will be loads of options to increase base sizes if needed, movement trays could work as well. From those pictures this week I think the new models will fit the older aesthetic well, just increase the quality. The 5th Ed plastic Bret knights were showing their age, probably too much so to put back into production, but I think the 6th Ed Peasants will probably come back. The new stuff won’t be cheap though, especially factions that have a lot of Forgeworld. I can see Kislev and Cathay (assuming that’s a new faction based on the blogs) being very reliant on Forgeworld. I still want to add Empire & now Brets (no way I’ll be able to resist them if they’ve got lots of new plastics as launch, so I’m just accepting that now 😂). Wish I could get some Men at Arms in a decent condition/reasonable price now 😅.

This was a great tutorial. I just started work on a rather large army of these boys from Highland Miniatures, the Sons of Ymir. I'm in love with the models. Especially excited for the Bear cavalry and Huscarls. Cheers

Thank you 😊. I’ve got quite a large army from them now, lots more to paint though 😅

New to the hobby, never thought about using cat litter before. I'll have to try that. Nice video (and mini)!

Can you do thunderers or normal armoured troops next please? Just printed an army and grabbed some contrasts but struggling with units that are clothed and armoured etc.
@MiniatureRealms Жыл бұрын
Absolutely, Dwarf Warriors are on the planned list. Armour wise I’m using regular metallics, though I will test out the Army Painter Speedpaint Metals at some point. Not sure if they will be for me, I tend to use zenithal and Contrast as an alternative to regular base coats, after that it’s mostly ‘regular painting’, so not sure how they might fit with that.

That sir is not an ECW cavalryman. Looks really good, though, as ever.

You did an amazing job!!! I love the mini. I never painted a dwarf. Would you think it would make be a decent idea to paint an army stone skin color?
@MiniatureRealms Жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊 Stone skin could be a really cool and unique approach, I’ve seen an AOS army of Stormcast made to look like they’re stone statues.

This was seriously a great video...what are your thought on air brush usage and painting a dwarf army?
@MiniatureRealms11 ай бұрын
Thank you. I think you could do quite a bit with the airbrush, depending on the experience level and control. There’s a lot of armour and metals going on, so that could be bulk painted with the airbrush before adding in the other bits, I did this with a MESBG Iron Hills army.

What paint did you use for the white dry brushing?
@MiniatureRealms4 ай бұрын
This video was so long ago I’m afraid I couldn’t tell you, but I use a few different brands for it, a mix of Vallejo and Two Thin Coats mostly, sometimes Pro Acryl (but not usually for dry brushing). It’s only really the Citadel ones that I really don’t like.

@@MiniatureRealms agh right, no worries.....i'll try it with some just game white and see how that goes...

Did you scale down to 28mm or is 32mm okay for the old world?
@MiniatureRealms Жыл бұрын
I scaled down, printed at 88%, that gave a nice ‘heroic 28 feel’, similar to the newer GW plastics. If you wanted to fully match 2nd/3rd Ed metals (or those tiny island of blood plastics) then they could drop a bit more. I’d definitely scale down for Warhammer though.

I dont really care for the contrast paint over a zenithal highlight
