Damn one fear check really makes a difference huh? Great battle report! I think you really do need a LvL 4 this edition. A level 2 only has a 1/3 chance of getting any particular spell you want, while the enemy level 4 (if there is one) is probably slinging the spells that synergise best with the enemy army, and is able to do so with a notable advantage to cast/dispel. If I could change it, I'd lower casting value of every spell by 1, make it so level ones get +1 to cast and +0 to dispel, level 2s get +1/+1, 3s get +2/+1 and 4s get +2/+2. You could also limit the number of spells known to 2 for level 1/2s and 3 for level 3/4s. It'd make things more random, but it would give more of an incentive to have multiple small wizards, or one big wizard and one small, so its more likely you get the spells you want.

Yeah I dont know what I was thinking when I made my 1500 point list, other than I just wanted to try my newly painted Warsphinx. Normally the first pick in any list is a Lvl 4 at least for some defence. Gone are the days of the Lvl1 scroll caddies.

Warmachines still sniping monsters in this version rules?

No not really , most only do d3+1 wounds. I was being overly cautious with the Necrsphinx , last time I used him he took 4 wounds on turn 1 and was near death all game .

I hope so. Monsters are powerful, they need some kind of counter.

@@shockerck4465 laser guided canonballs from a 40point model from across the tabel oneshotting 400 points aint the awnser. But it seems they adressed it with them doing a bit less dmg

​@@methioswar2916 it's too much of an over swing in monsters favors. Cannons don't do anything to them anymore because most monsters have three saves and most characters can make their armor saves against the cannons. Flaming attacks also no longer always stops regens so they usually get a Regen too
