I was there 12 years ago with my son and we did 4 hours behind the scenes, with the scientists and carers. We hand fed the Pandas (using fruit on a stick), and even tasted their special formula food. It was amazing. It was also not at all commercialised and we actually had trouble getting transport back to the city. A highlight was being chased (nicely) by some red pandas.

@@Qiushishuo We were very lucky to experience what we did. The grown pandas are massive up close and their claws were huge. The dietary care and attention they received was phenomenal. We went into their panda birthing facility and saw a recently born panda (looked nothing like at panda at that stage) being meticulously cared for. Does anyone know if that facility is still open to the public?

Hello, do you know panda Hehua is the cutest and most famous panda ever, and many people travel from all over the world, queuing 3 hours to see her for just 3 min. People queued again and again just to get a glimpse of her! Not everyone have a chance to go Chengdu to see her. You're so lucky to be there but yet you did not get to see her! It's a regret of a lifetime!

pandas are solitary and territorial so that's why they have their separate areas. I think only younger ones are still kept together. keeping anything in captivity isn't ideal but at least they aren't in small cages and probably get the best free foods they enjoy lol.

But some of it is their natural colo, especially the yellow-orange tones in the white. I was wondering how white they actually are, without the dirt obviously.
