I'm glad you like Xi'an. I studied at Xi'an Jiaotong University from 1997 to 2001. It is my second hometown. I want to share with you the food in Xi'an. In the past, the first stop for Xinjiang people to enter the mainland was Xi'an. Because Henan's economic development was relatively slow, many people also gathered in Xi'an, which made the culture and food of Xinjiang and Henan gather in Xi'an. Therefore, the food in Xi'an combines the essence of these three provinces. I will go there in three days with my wife and children. This is my return after 25 years away. 秦朝定都咸阳，但不是现代的咸阳。比如阿房宫就在西安西郊，很多重叠。秦代都城遗址一部分就在西安境内。还有西安就是13朝古都，这是中国官方提出的，你有不同意见很酷！

The wide noodle actually is very famous in China called "BiangBiang" noodle, if you are a big fan of noodle, you should try it. another is cold rice noodle (called 凉皮) with chili oil and sesame juice which is also good food especially for hot summer. BTW, the local people usually eat garlic with the noodles instead of dumpling.

Small Tip....If U R served Really; Really HOT Tea....In China; as it should be served......To Cool the Surface of the Tea; Simply Blow in the Bit U R going to Drink for a little Bit.... Then Sip the Cooled Area.....The Authentic Green Tea from the Region is Sublime.....Just Try it!

Great Tang All Day Mall is a must-visit. You get to experience what ancient China was like during the Tang Dynasty, which was 1,300 to 1,000 years ago. The traditional Chinese clothes you see girls wearing are called hanfu, but in Xi'an, most people dress in Tang Dynasty style, as hanfu is a generic term for ancient Chinese clothes.

There are a lot of Chinese Muslims in Xi'an, so many food restaurants and stores don't sell pork food. Lamb, goat meat, and beef are very popular in west China.

Xi'an is famous for it's Halal food everywhere and Muslim culture. Try not to ask 'you gotta pork?' unless you are sure it's not halal, otherwise it's a bit offensive. Do enjoy all the amazing beef and lamb dishes at the Halal places, which you can spot by the green and white Halal sign either in Chinese or sometimes Persian. Basically look for "清真“ in green letters.

Xi An is one of the most diverse city in China, with different ethnic groups who respect each other and live harmoniously. It is also famous for its noodles and different types of breads. You can ask the local to recommend you their thin noodles because it's always so yummy. You may try lots of halal food with beef, lamb and chicken. The Han ethnic group eat pork, beef, chicken, duck, doncky etc. Don't forget to try donkey burger in Xi An. When you want lighter food with less spicy, oily, or salty, you can always highlight with the street food owner or restaurant waiter or waitress, so they will follow for your demand. Enjoy your stay in Xi An!

One thousand years ago, Xi An, more beautifully named Chang An back then, was the capital of 13 dynasties including the most glorious Tan dynasty in China lasting in total for another 1140 years.
