Went to the shop and was dead set on purchasing a 1050 for 9mm. Lady behind the counter said next month the RL1100 is coming out. Figured I am this close might as well wait a little.... This was a year ago, it just came in today! Time to get it together, bullet feeder will make life easier. Definitely a long wait for this day, should be great!

Great content , good to see what it takes to tweak for best performance on Dillon. Running that similar Hornady Lnl AP, tweaks about the same , and agree nothing compares to just pulling the handle and watching the bullets drop into the tray.

I'm running two of these, near identical setups, one manually for .45ACP and one for .308 on a Mk.7 Autodrive. I also have a Mk.7 Revolution series for .223, another for 9mm, and another for .40S&W. With an "Autodrive" the RL-1100 is nearly as good as the Mk.7 revolutions (and was easy to install). The only really noticeable difference at that point is the additional tool head space for more dies on the Revolutions. Both Dillon and Mk.7 make some great systems. The only downside is this entire industry is a nightmare on orders and delivery. Everything is late on delivery. Most of the OEM's of consumables aren't even taking on large orders for the time being. Had a powder mfg. give us a quote for a couple kegs of powder only to then tell us when we sent the PO that they weren't accepting actual orders for the next year. Both a major European and Russian primer maker quote large orders and when we sent the order in were contacted shortly after saying the lead time on the order that size was 10 - 20 MONTHS ARO. The shortage is real folks... I can find projectiles and brass out the ears. But Primer and Powder are mostly non-existent at the OEM level.

You probably answer this question in the first build video, but it appears that you're not applying significant pressure on the up-stroke to insert primers....is this now a down-stroke operation with the 1100? I wanted the 1100 for the additional stations but purchased the 750 to allow budget for additional equipment & components. I purchased my 750 a few months ago (way wrong time to get into reloading) and either have to be at the sporting goods store at the crack of dawn or pay through the nose to scalpers charging $200 for a $38 box of primers. Another excellent video! I am learning a lot and appreciate you putting these out here!

that's the point of reloading, especially on high volume. Stock up when it's cheap, reload when everybody cries how this and that is expensive or not available at all. And by stocking up I don't mean few thousands of primers and bullets. Tens of thousands, at least. And it is even not that expensive - buy 2k each month and it adds up pretty quickly.

How did you prevent the powder funnel from getting stuck in the case, as well as the crimp die? In my S1050, both the funnel and crimp dies cause the brass to get stuck, and the upstroke is always very violent as it pops off of the cases. Does it on both my S1050's in 9mm and .45ACP. I've just ordered some nitrided funnels but my crimp die is still going to stick. I wet tumble all my brass and I won't change this, so I know clean brass tends to stick in the funnels (polished or not) but I'm sure others also wet tumble and load on these machines with no issues but unable to lock down a consistent solution. I've tried quite a few things already. Ammo still comes out great, but my productivity suffers due to the popping unstick actions.

Gavin well understands that many reloaders have a limited budget and can’t or don’t want to spend more than a couple of hundred dollars on a press . On the other hand there are many reloaders out there that can afford to buy the more expensive reloading presses on the market, that’s why he reviews them . Gavin, it is good to see you enjoying the fruits of thousands of hours of work and tens of thousands of dollars you invested in your channel. For those whining about you being a shill, well, screw the ignorant. I enjoy your vids, and will continue to do so. Also, hello from a fellow Central WA guy. I live about 50 miles from ya.

Are you using the Dillon powder funnel/case mouth bell or the one that comes with the Mr. Bullet feeder?

I run a Dillon RL550C and can kick out 400 rds an hour which works for me with a lot less cost for the machine. That is nice, but I cannot justify the cost for one unless I had deep pockets or was selling ammunition commercially.

When I have the big money you do, I will buy a Dillon. Until then, it's single and 2 stage reloading for me. Thank you for posting!

Well, tomorrow is delivery date for my RL 1100! Excited, you bet. I've been using a RL 550 since late 1986. Notice, no A, B, or C. It was a original 550. Bought it for 38 SPCL. Added 9 MM, 380 Auto and of course 45 ACP later. I don't know how many cartridges it has reloaded. But, I hope it's new home will appreciate it as much as I did. Your videos helped me get ready to set it up tomorrow, thanks. Adding the bullet feeder may come later if my hands fail me any more, bummer. I do plan on using the Dillon powder check system for now. The videos also pointed out a few tips that will help speed setup. Great videos, thanks. MSgt David R. Smyth, USAF, Ret.

Did you have Star Line modify your powder funnel to avoid sticking with new 9mm brass cases? Mine stuck and Star Line fixed the dropper funnel for free.

Really jealous of the boxes of primers! I use a similar setup with a Super 1050 with a Mr Bullet Feeder. I have been using that setup for 5 years now and have made many 10's of thousands of rounds, probably close to 100K. Once I got the 1050 dialed in, I was able to really crank out ammo. This has become my main press, with the XL650 relegated to odd types that I only make in small batches.
