That's not the main issue at all here...The reason for all the heat in the block is...is he let it run at absolute max throttle knocking its nuts off for a prolonged time till the fuel tank was completely empty, did not let it idle at all. The result is that the water pump is driven by the belt on the front, no engine RPM = NO coolant flow! hence the lines being hot close to the engine. completely the wrong way to look after an engine.

I’m quite surprised that you run this engine without any oil lubrication at all! But I suppose the grease is enough to suffice! Excellent video! I’m a retired ASE Certified Master Automotive Technician, and I’m just getting into building these tiny automotive combustion engines and I’m loving it. I diagnoses, repaired, built, rebuilt and restored my own vehicles and others cars of course. I’m disabled now but really enjoy these as a hobby. @@christiansanden8005 Agreed! Far too much heat for too long will easily blow a piston or valve and much more!!! I wouldn’t run them longer than a few minutes so it’s a good thing the fuel tank is so small!!! When putting mine together I lubricated the short block with some Q tips dipped lightly in Royal Purple that I use in my cars and trucks. This at least gives it a bit of a coating. After some thought I decided to use a five weight that I run in my turbocharged four banger performance engines. I felt anything more would result in hydrostatic failure of the lower engine internals because of the micro tolerances in theses mini monsters. As far as the Cylinder Heads, Valves and pistons Rings are concerned they should be well lubricated fine for the first three to five minutes from the grease. It will melt quickly and coat well! But anymore than four or five minutes I would probably suggest checking it once the entire engine has been given a chance to cool before taking off anything more than the Valve Covers! But if you’re anything like me, that’s just part of the fun!!!! How I’d love to stuff this engine into a die cast car with remote control steering and throttle control. That thing would SCREAM!!!! FYI, there's a possibility that you'll break one of those exhaust valves if you run this engine for an extended period of time without an exhaust system especially at high RPM. That's why I recommended running zoomies to get the sound you want. Under "real world" circumstances, an exhaust system is there to provide the proper back pressure to enable scavenging of the spent exhaust gases. An exhaust system will also isolate the exhaust valves from being overexposed to O2, which will eventually oxidize them and crystallize their metal composite, making them potentially brittle. You could even put small balls into the ends of the zoomies to prevent water condensation from entering them during or after cool down.
@WarpedYT
@WarpedYT 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Those are really great details, those are things not many people think about but you're absolutely correct. For sure I am going to make a proper exhaust, I just ran it without the exhaust to see if it can actually get louder or is it like an engine Port size issue... Thanks !
@Mrshotshell
@Mrshotshell 2 жыл бұрын
Backpressure is never a good thing. You will have more scavenging and make more power with less back pressure in almost every situation
@frankhamilton8257
@frankhamilton8257 2 жыл бұрын
@@Mrshotshell You obviously don't understand the concept. There's a reason every engine has an exhaust system and it has nothing to do with back pressure or noise. An exhaust system, whether it's zoomies (which effectively produces little or no back pressure) or otherwise, is not just there to direct exhaust gas to be dumped out at some point rear of the driver. From an engine perspective (all other issues aside) an exhaust system is ideally designed to "tune" the air flow as it travels through the engine (particularly in an engine with normal induction), and while doing so, provides a certain level of protection to the exhaust valves from being exposed to ambient air, which will ultimately weaken or fatigue the alloys in the metal.

@nerd1000ify
@nerd1000ify 2 жыл бұрын
@@frankhamilton8257 My understanding is that the issue with no headers and the valves is thermal shock, i.e. cold air hitting the 800+ degrees C valve cools it very rapidly, over time this can cause cracks to grow in the valve until it breaks. Should not be a serious issue for such a small motor, smaller valves generally don't get as hot because they have more area to conduct heat to the head relative to the amount of heat they absorb. Also glowmotors run on methanol with a hefty dose of oil (usually 20% or so), which naturally burns a lot cooler than gasoline. More broadly, I suspect that this is an engine specific issue. Many WW2 fighters had 'stub' exhausts, the 'header' if you can call it that was no more than a short nozzle that directed the exhaust flow backwards as it came out of the ports on each cylinder (for bonus jet thrust!). These would surely be candidates for the thermal shocking issue, but on the contrary most of them had more trouble with burnt valves than cracked ones, leading to the use of sodium cooled valves, stellite valve seats, etc.

Save your $1,700. This thing overheated when it wasn't doing anything more taxing than spinning its own flywheel because the cooling system is woefully inadequate, it can't breathe, it didn't even live up to the 12,500RPM promises in the pre-release marketing spiel, and it clearly has issues with staying running at lower speeds.

Collector's merged into an x-pipe to duals would sound the best imo, you'll pick up some scavenging and drastically improve the sound. Either that or headers merged into a single large pipe.

@@WarpedYT yep, I see a lot of comments about back pressure being needed, it's simple not true, you do need some length for the header to keep the valves living. The back pressure argument has been disproven many times I've read that in the comments quite a bit. As drag racer it's simple not true, any back pressure will hurt power if the exhaust is designed efficiently to scavenge.

It's misfiring badly... When you have so many cylinders, you need a proper ignition system. This engine needs real sparkplugs and an Electronic Ignition System to create organized firing inside the cylinders.. It's a shame they did in Nitro intead of pump gas. No oil pump either. Improvements need to be done here.

I doesn't even have like a proper oil sump, the crankshaft only gets lubricated be the nitro-oil mix that passes through the rings
@P_double_H
@P_double_H 2 жыл бұрын
@@eljaibas16 I wouldn't have approved such a crappy engine system to be taken to production... I mean, how is this supposed to compete against a brushless motor.. let's not even talk about price differences.. a premium brushless motor is about $200 bucks.. 8 times cheaper, and 20 times cleaner. This engine needs: *Proper Ignition System with coil box *Real sparkplugs *Crankshaft position sensor linked to ignition computer to tell the sparkplugs when to fire. *Oil pump to bring oil to the head. *Piston Ring sets to increase compression and something extra but really nice: *a hydraulic torque converter to be able to use combustion rc engines in rock crawlers... centrifugal clutches suck at low rpms.
