Water under the bridge. That interview isn't going anywhere and there is no point in bringing it up again. Rugby games are one on the field in the mud and the rain not on YT recaps. Sean O'Brien is a proven world class flanker. Both Warren Gatland and Rob Howley are proven world class coaches. End of.

Sean should have a go at coaching the lions, and see how he goes, proofs in the pudding as they say. One should be able to have something to back his mouth up, rather than shoot ones mouth off.

Goes without saying of course, that with any tour, of any kind of sport, *_'What happens on tour, stays on tour'_* and as far as I'm able to recall, despite the contentious tour of Clive Woodward, nothing was said by any individual be they player, coach or backroom guy! O'Brien destroyed that code and even doubled down on it! I'll be amazed if any coach, be they Lions/Baa Baas or whatever, will see this guy selected ever again! Rightly so IMO!!

I invite you to consult with certain retrospective articles in the English press, quoting Paul O'Connell among others, complaining loudly about the circumstances of the so-called "Tour of Hell". Similarly you could refer to Brian O'Driscoll's long history of bitching and moaning over his deselection for the final test of the Lions tour to Australia in 2013. Quite in contrast to your above statement (which in principle I agree with), it seems that the Irish players have something of a track record when it comes to openly questioning the coach's decisions where these amalgamated team tours are concerned, although equally petulant and entitled missives are also known to belch from the mouths of English players on a regular basis - Austin Healey (2001) and Billy Vunipola (2017) being notable cases in point.

@@Formakiwi Can't disagree with that in the main however, I seem to recall with the ones you mention, that it was mainly the press bellyaching 'on behalf' of the players and, I'd agree, the players probably cooperated with them, what defines this one in particular, is the player himself deciding to run with it and the media gladly accommodating them. Small difference perhaps but, a significant one all the same?

Love Sean O'Brien but in my humble opinion he should not have been selected for that game. He is not playing well. Sexton and one or two others should have been taken off at halftime.

You do not slag off your coach in public ….. especially a coach who has won a Lions Tour in Australia (I was there and the last match was truly amazing) and drawn a Tour in the cauldron of New Zealand. I hope Gatland is the coach to South Africa in 2021 ….. I bet O'Brien doesn't! If stuff like that has to be said it should be in private. Silly, Sean, silly.

Good points by Obrien on how very very lucky the Lions were for the drawn series - every statistic was against them and they only led for 5 minutes in one game the whole series and that game was effectively over for the ABs due to the early red card...the 3rd test was that appallingly wrong ref decision...and so should have lost that one as well. The only clear game was the first which was a clear thrashing by the ABs..

O ' Brien almost burst into tears in interview after Toulouse game cause it was his last game at the Aviva , the fukn Muppet . Loves attention . He will be put out to grass at London Irish after the W.C. and won't have to worry about any more Lions tours .

Why are coaches not allowed to be criticised but players are? If a coach complains about a player it’s to make the player better. But if a player complains about coaching to try and make coaches better.. then that’s wrong.. gats should have shown more respect towards O’Brien than saying he’s only won one game..he’s a proven leader and phenomenal player who I believe will make a fantastic coach in the future.

I was also there and can assure you that the Irish fans sat next to us were shown a great deal of respect and in spite of the result enjoyed themselves. Unfortunately, there were a lot of loud mouth ungracious Irish fans on the web predicting that Wales would be at the end of a beating - perhaps the Welsh fans you mentioned werer responding to the Irish fans I mentioned.
