Honestly really tempted by this, to support a channel which I have only recently discovered, which gives some of the best battle reports (in my humble opinion). Only really interested in The Old World (new editions of 40k just don't scratch the itch like the older editions did, what are command points & why are there SO many special rules?! Haha). "Never send in cavalry without infantry support". I learned this the hard way on Monday! I was playing with my lizardmen against chaos dwarfs. I sent my cold ones into a unit of 10 gunners and my tooled up oldblood on carnosaur into a smaller unit of 5 blunderbuss wielders. Both bounced and were despatched in subsequent turns. I've never played against dwarfs before and I'll never underestimate their toughness again!

Demonic vigor lasts "until the end of the turn", while other enchantments last "until your next start of turn subphase". Does this mean that Demonic vigor wouldn't carry over into your opponent's turn after cast?

Pillar of Fire doesn't hit you when you go over it because it just uses Dangerous Terrain to hit you instead - imo it's better to count it as just getting hit by the spell rather than DT, but that's 100% not the real rule.

Yeah DC and I talked about this off camera and agreed that going forward we would take hits from vortexes if we move through them. It doesn't make sense to us that a raging fire tornado can do damage to you when it moves through a unit, but then in the following turn a unit can walk through it without getting hurt. It doesn't sit well with us. Mountain miniatures also play it the same way we done it.

Thoroughly enjoyed this and new to the channel! Great job guys! Learnt so much about the old world from you both. One thing I’d seen in the woodies book though is that, whilst not brilliantly written, I think that non-forest spirits can use forest spirit’s inspiring presence. The forest spirit rule comprises several sentences about the interactions, but not one that would rule the above out, so I think that the spell singer in this game could have used the Treeman Ancient’s LD if she was in range.

Spectral doppelganger doesn't let you choose the weapon it uses, it uses the weapon you pick for that combat, so if the character attacks with a hand weapon the spectral doppelganger spell uses those stats. If you want it to use the great weapon stats you must use the great weapon to fight with.

If a weapon that confers always strike first doesn't mean the caster can cast an assailment spell at initiative 10, then it will mean that a weapon that has strike last does not mean the caster must strike at initiative 1. So the branchwraith can cast spectral doppleganger at initiative 6, and use the weapon. But when I actually go to use her two attacks normally in combat, I do strike at initiative 1. It does mean that you do not get armourbane (1) for the great weapon when using it as part of the spell however which I did miss. Now there is a case to argue that it wouldn't even confer the +2S and Ap-2, but overall this specific case needs FAQ'd

Units of 5 wide in TOW is not optimal in terms of offense. I usually rock Chaos Warrior in bricks of 6x3 (you only get a +2 rank bonus anyway). I see a lot of people go much wider, 7x3, 8x2, 10x2. Or rock Chosen in 10x2 which turns into 15 wide with 'Drilled' on the charge for 30+ attacks. 'Fighting Rank' encourages width to a sometimes ridiculous degree. I don't love how it looks on the tabletop, but them's the rules.

Late in the game, Leatherface and friends made a charge over the elemental spirit, you should have -1 M and roll 2d6 drop the highest for charge range due to the dangerous terrain. I think you wouldn't have made it with the 3 and 3 M as you said it was a 7" charge.

Yeah the charge into the Manticore and the Stand and Shoot looked like they went backwards. Spectral Dop on the Branch wraith is very good...I would suggest popping any attacks left onto the BW next time, try to kill her off. Loving your reports lads, keep them coming.

Ahh it's the way the Treeman was modelled on the 50mm square base to get it to fit. It's actually looking at the manicure with the sword blade across it's body. Kinda difficult to see without a close up of the ancient and it blending into the battlefield (totally intentional) haha

This wasn't the summoned forest from tree singing, this was the woodland ambush forest that is meant to be placed before the game commences, but we forgot so we spring it up in the first turn and classed it as difficult and dangerous. You are thinking of the tree singing magic wood that can be cast

If you pursue into a unit that does a FBIGO then you count as a new combat, things like Hatred and Flails pop back up.

Hey mate, unfortunately it doesn't count as a new combat, it just gives you your bonuses for charging again etc. specifically the flail Strength benefit only applies in the first round of combat. I believe this was in the FAQ. If the strength bonus from the flail counted only when the model charged then he would get it when I FBIGO but it is only in the first round of combat.

I belive you can not use shield in melee with your chaos Lord since he use flail a 2-h weapon. I think you actually even said that in the presentation 😂 Still you used the shield bonus in melee versus the tree man.

For reference, that's the actual models initiative, so if they armed with a great weapon, it doesn't take them to initiative 1. Also, if they have the sword of swiftness to give them always strike first, this doesn't mean the assailment spell goes off at initiative 10. It's always the casters initiative attribute

Forrest dragon is listed as having plate armour, would you add this to the lord’s light armour/shield? And if the spell singer is on dragon doea she have a 4+ for all of her wounds? Also for Chaos chariots, no separate profile is given for them when used as a mount to combine with a character’s stats as a boost as per other mounts. Do you combine their profiles? And if not how does it work for attacking them with melee and shooting?

I really enjoy TOW but i find the stacking of already v good armour saves with ward and regen on some models to be very jarring! Possibly an unpopular opinion but it really interferes with the gameplay and the stacked saves feel very 40k

I think this is the toughest part of the game ATM.. to fight something like a lord on monstrous mount that has a good armour save, ward save and regen. It's tough to chew through.

I don't think it's fair to use what happened to these Chaos Knights against the unit. They're powerful yes, but you can't expect them to be immortal. They were fighting a unit that had a Caster with a spell dedicated to killing tough, heavily armored units in melee. With you also having nothing to dispel it. If we wanted to be completely fair, they were actually fighting an uphill battle points wise. You spent 241 points on your Chaos Knights, while 11 Dryads (w/ Nymph) with a level 2 Branchwraith with a Great Weapon is 262 points. Love the RP aspects behind the battles, and love seeing Warriors of Chaos Battle Reports. Subscribe and hope to see some more WoC soon!

Chosen Knights pay +9pts (or alternatively cost 133% of the cost of) regular knights for +1A, +1LD, Stubborn, Counter Charge and a 6+ ward - they're really way better than regular knights. Arguably everything in WoC is too expensive but comparatively they're good. Might be best to think of it in terms of: Would I rather have 8 regular Knights, or 6 Chosen Knights? I think the Chosen Knights are the better choice every time.

I think you're playing the timing wrong with spectral doppelganger on the branchwraiths as a GW sets your int. to 1 during the whole round with a great weapon so the spell will be cast at int 1 not 6.

skirmishers don't have flanks or rear so shouldn't have gotten that +2 bonus against them!

Hey mate, I interpret this differently. Pg 184 facing and line of sight states that "whilst in skirmish formation, models do not have flank or rear arcs giving skirmishers a 360 vision arc. Pg 185 mentions skirmishers in combat, para 2 in that sub section makes it as if the units form up and are then on completion of combat adopt skirmish formation again. This means the unit probably only has no flank or rear arcs for vision, not no actual flank or rear

Treemen stats are absolute rubbish. They used to be combat monsters back in the day!

Their defence is pretty decent with t6, 5w, 4+, 5++ , but I agree their offensive power is somewhat lacking. They need unbreakable in my opinion
