The tool you're describing when talking about vibrato is called an Oscilloscope and PitchLab Lite has one for Android. (You'll have to search it though cause it's not on play store anymore!) "Dystopia" by Witchcraft (from Sweden), you'll love em.

Chester had a very wide range in his vocal range. Chester also had the ability to mimic some singers like Jonathan Davis from Korn, Billy Idol, and Michael Jackson. In 2016 Chester did a small tour with the celebrity band Kings of Chaos. He did a cover of Billy Idol's White Wedding. It is not a song you would think he could do. The is a live stream that Chester, Mike, and I think Brad did while in the studio recording songs. They took a break and was listening to the radio when Michael Jackson came on and Chester started singing along with Michael Jackson at the same octave. There is one Linkin Park song that shows just how soft Chester could sing. That song is called My December. There is no music video for it but the best performance of it is My December live Projekt Revolution 2002. Chester had the voice of an angel and the scream of a demon. Chester could sing any song he wanted to because of the control he had of his voice.

This cover is probably the most melodical song he ever sang, at least from what I heard, and I heard quite a lot, including all the 7 studio albums of Linkin Park, his Dead By Sunrise project, the EP with STP and many other live covers. I can almost assure his voice sounds better in this cover made in 2009 than in almost all his official songs out there (melodically speaking I mean)

Watching the full live show you see that Chester starts the song in a wrong key. It takes just a couple seconds for him to start over in the right key. Goes to show how raw it is, and how he's making it up as he goes. It might not be perfect, but if it was, it wouldn't be as good as it is.

Chester sang it a lot cleaner live, but the studio version is so incredibly raw. They talked about him recording that version with a focus on emotion, not on sounding the best. It's one of my favourite performances from him, and it's such a brilliant example of how "flawed" singing can be perfect ❤
