American viewer checking in. I own a Mustang Mach-E GT and absolutely love it. I remember Tish's disappointment with her first test drive and it's interesting to see the evolution in the evaluation of the car. The specs on the original and subsequent tester are somewhat disappointing. The glass roof does so much to brighten the cabin and the extra power/range of the big battery is nice to use. The GT is a real hoot to drive and the exterior styling is just absolutely gorgeous. I get so many compliments on my car and it really stands out in a sea of Teslas.

3:44 I think the unlocking PIN was meant more for times when you don’t want to take your key with you e.g. if you are going swimming and you want to leave your key in the car. Then you can lock it with the key inside and unlock with the keypad when you get back.

Finally a real life answer to this question I always had . I know rivian has a bracelet that becomes a key if you want to go swimming and can leave your items plus keys inside , but I’m in love with the Mach-E and you answer my question. Thank you so much.

I've got a Mach-E California RT 1 AWD (US) and sometimes driving it is the highlight of my day, especially if I get space to play with its handling and acceleration. From a former petrol Mustang owner, you've really got to drive it to see why they felt it deserved the badge.

Have a standard range RWD Mach e and luv it. Did a 2000 miles road trip to Florida and back in December and it was a pleasure to "drive" with Blue Cruise while listening to Sirius radio. Only hitch was a 30-minute wait to begin charging at a DC fast charger. But that's on Elect America not Ford.

I've got a Mach-E GT Performance. Love pretty much every aspect of it except the range, which drops off pretty dramatically here in Colorado. Otherwise, possibly my favorite car I've ever had.

We seem to have lost the plot on the prices of new cars. Manufacturers have taken the development of electric vehicles as an excuse to raise the prices by thousands and thousands. 50k should not be the norm for a family car.

I’ve had a Mustang Mach-e RWD ER since March 2022 and its been a total game changer. I’m a musician and for London gigs this car is perfect, no ULEZ and no congestion charge and because I charge at home 95% of the time it’s very cost effective. Aside of all that it looks great and is a lot of fun to drive. Best car I’ve ever owned by a country mile! 👌

The keypad is useful if you are out shopping with your partner and go off doing different things. Either of you can return to the car and get inside without necessarily having to remember to take 2 keyfobs with you.

Thanks Tish. Great timing as many people are likely to go back and compare this early entry with a lot of newer offerings. Great to hear your attitude about it is more positive. For those who are interested in sustainability and battery safety, Ford is considering moving to LFP cells, and it's possible the Mach-E could get the new cells that eschew cobalt and nickel, become much less susceptible to battery fires, but suffer a bit of energy deficiency. Maybe they can improve efficiency other ways and compensate when that time comes.

I must say, I just love that French Beret (rakishly at a slant on the pretty blond curls!) with that Scottish tartan scarf. Lipstick to match the car. So Stylish! Doesn't the side view with sloping roofline remind you of a BMW personal SUV that has a similar departure from the box SUV? Nice to know that it is quite quick in acceleration. I think that the Ford choice of the Mustang name was "daft," as you say across the pond.

How much did you pay mother nature to provide the light show during your conclusion? Nicely done! =) Ford was smart to capitalize on the Mustang moniker, IMHO. Given the automotive landscape seems to be heading towards an, exclusively, EV future, this keeps an iconic brand name alive for a new generation. Mustang faithful would have moaned even if Ford decided to slap the Mustang label on a EV sports car. The EV buyer demographic doesn't hold the same romantic idealizations of "bygone era" Mustangs but they do still know the name as iconic. It also makes sense, in the present, because the original Mustang forged a new path for Ford, as the Mach-E is doing for the brand today. I suspect that Ford expected the blow back and knew that it would subside. Just my useless 2 cents. =) Merry Christmas from balmy Miami!

That is very very true, I just kind of wish they launched this as a Ford and then waited and made a rear wheel drive bias EV like the GT but slightly more aggressive in styling.

On the rear wheel bias, I totally agree. Easily rectified, on an EV though, where re-engineering is simply plug and play. Work in progress. Regardless, nice to hear an auto journalist changing their mind on a vehicle (admitting their bias). Happy New Year! =)

There's no premium brand EV at the same price. It competes with other mid market cars like model Y, id4, Polestar etc and the Mach E is better in almost all areas (it's the LR AWD you want)

Yep, this is a pretty good car…as for Tesla, if it wasn’t for business owners with the tax incentives I don’t think they would be anywhere near as popular. The build quality on those cars is pretty shocking.

@@AutoSocialUK Oh another idea. Maxus, another SAIC's brand, has an all electric MPV called MIFA9. I checked Maxus UK's website and apparently MIFA9 is available in the UK as a RHD model. I only saw EV Review Ireland's Derek Reilly review this electric MPV. From what I know, the MIFA9 is built on a dedicated EV platform. Maxus also has other electric vans available in the UK. But they are converted from ICE models. Would Electroheads be interested in reviewing an electric MPV, or Vans?

Most human beings are slow to accept progress, it is normal that when you change a habit, people find it strange, for me the Mustang Mach E is as Mustang as the combustion model, if we think about it, Ford made the best of 2 worlds , gave continuity to an icon that in the future will no longer be produced by combustion, however hard it is for us to accept it and made a Mustang for today, I don't think it's marketing, quite the contrary, in fact, only the new one will come out Mustang GT due to the credit that the Mach E gave to the brand. Electric or combustion it doesn't matter because in fact if we think that the Mustang Mach E GT has 860 Nm and 480HP, if this isn't a Mustang I don't know what it is ;-) ! I advise everyone to take a test drive to understand the incredible piece of engineering created by Ford

Nice review as usual. I have just taken delivery of a new Mustang, but its a coupe, has the rumbling V8 and a manual transmission. I think Ford used the Mustang name to reduce its overall Mustang emissions so it can continue to make the V8 coupe fir the next few years.

CAFE numbers are based on fleet with GVM of 8,500 lbs or less in the US. It is more complicated that just an average too, but every Ford vehicle under that weight would be included.

It’s still a ridiculous amount of money to pay for all electric? I still think most people are better off with a hybrid (at least until the infrastructure is way much better). You could get a pretty decent Mercedes or BMW hybrid with better equipment, for a cheaper price ( assuming you can get one that is. I had had to settle for a 1 year old GLA250e, because new ones have a 12 month lead time - chip shortage apparently??).

I’ve got one of these on loan whilst my car (Taycan GTS) is being fixed and the Ford is utter rubbish. Its build quality is poor at best and it feels like you’re driving a jelly. Would I spend my money on one…..not ever.

This Mustang is made in Mexico. Far too expensive for a Ford and being at the mercy of their rubbish dealerships. Ford should have established a premium brand for this model. Also the bottom is falling out of the BEV market. Tesla have just dropped their prices by 20% in a panic over declining sales. Nice that Elon Musk admits he has been overcharging his customers. That will hit residual values too.

I've driven a Mach E and other EVs. If you care about language and words representing proper meaning. Its honestly the worst car I've ever driven anything bad about the car is enhanced by my hatred for turning everything into crossover. Ford is killing car culture ,coupes saloons, sports, estate cars all replaced by crossovers such a bland selection with their legacy names shamelessly put onto soccer mum mobiles as a marketing ploy
