Thank you for sharing this information. I’ve just started seriously considering buying this EV. I’m in an area of USA where EVs are very unpopular so when I saw the 21 model year sitting on the lot with 25,000 miles for $27,000 I was intrigued. There are quite a few new ones on the lot and they are discounted on average of $6000 with the lowest priced one at $41,000 minus the tax credit of $7000. Unfortunately I don’t know how that compares yet to the 2021 . I have heard say that even used EVs qualify for a $3500 tax credit but didn’t confirm that. Overall though if everything checks out according to your video and they can get the price down to $20,000 I’m a buyer. I’ve found over the years that when I want a car and set the price I’m willing to pay that a negotiation over a week or two with the dealer is normal. I buy these unpopular cars and have always enjoyed them. My first EV I hope.

There's a lot of false information and hate out there for EVs but they're incredible. I've been driving electric since 2013 and I'll never go back to a combustion vehicle. Good luck in your search!

I just purchased the extended range premium model in the colors I wanted. Paid $27K for car with 32K miles from dealer who was relatively close. Because the car cost over $25K it did not qualify for the tax credit.....But I got the longer range car, the car looks new, and it was half the original MSRP so I was happy. Car is so much better than the Tesla Model Y.

Technically there is only a small difference between select awd and extended awd in acceleration (4.8s vs 5.1s 0-60mph). The front motor gets power limited by the battery current, but the motors are the same between extended/premium and select awd.

I would like to by a premium 91kwh AWD. My understanding is that the 2024 model has a new rear motor. What are your thoughts on the value of the 2024 versus the earlier models? Is there anything in the 2024 model that’s worth the 10 or $15,000 depreciation cost?

In my opinion the only thing worth the extra money in the new version is if you buy the new Rally edition. Otherwise the cars are so similar you're much better off saving some money.

Is there a way to see battery health like you can on Teslas?

I saw the same model and the year that has like 9k miles, would that be a good buy? for electrical cars if the miles are super low for a 3 years old one, is that considered worse off in the near future compare to a similarly aged car that had decent used miles on it?
@DustinBatchelor2 ай бұрын
It's still important to get as low mileage as you can as there are still lots of components that wear with usage such as suspension, interior and exterior finishing, tires, brakes, etc. The only concern I might have is that someone left the car in a low charge state for a long period of time which could be damaging to the battery, but it's pretty unlikely. More likely that someone bought it and just didn't drive much. I'd say go for it!

How long do they take to charge at a public charger and with the 220v home charger?
@DustinBatchelor4 ай бұрын
There's lots of things that will impact charging speed. Temperature of the battery, amperage/voltage, current state of charge, and the total capacity of the battery in the car (normal vs extended). If we take best (and simple) case scenarios at home (11 kW charger), then you just need to divide the battery capacities (72 and 91) by 11. From complete zero it would take 6.5 hours for the normal capacity and 8.25 hours for extended. Public rapid charging is a bit more complex as you typically don't want to charge above 80%. The extended range will charge at up to 150 kW, but that speed increases and decreases depending on the state of charge. Plan for about thirty minutes if you are very low on charge and find a fast station.

Why are they calling this a Mustang? It does not even look like one. No Mustang had 4 doors until now. No Mustang had all wheel or front wheel drive. Just slapping two ponies on a piece of metal does not make it a Mustang. Call it whatever you want, but don't call it a Mustang!
@DustinBatchelor4 ай бұрын
True, it is definitely much faster than any other factory mustang so I can see your argument :) With that being said, I myself have never attached myself to the name of the vehicle but have always looked at the merits of the vehicle itself. This has taken me to several brands in my vehicle ownership journey - Asuna, Pontiac, Chrysler, Mazda, Acura, Honda, Nissan, and Chevrolet. I'm sure Ford had a reason and it's their decision to do what they want with the naming standard. Don't let a name push you away from a truly great vehicle!

Ford is getting access to the Supercharger network this spring, and current Mach-E owners will receive a free NACS adapter. I’ve rented Teslas twice for long road trips and I agree there’s a lot to like and the Supercharger experience is outstanding. But I’ve also driven in Vancouver where every third car now is either a Model Y or a Model 3 and it would be a real struggle for me to drive something so common.
