Fellow Legends, welcome! Today we dive into another epic TGS Anime Duel Analysis video, this time we have everybody's favorite [non-canonical] movie Yu-Gi-Oh! The Pyramid of Light movie. Mechanically this duel had a lot going for it, minus a couple glaring issues. Did you know about some of these issues? What are your thoughts on the duel, and the movie as a whole? Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon looks like the long-lost cousin of Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza.

I still remember seeing this movie in theaters and getting the pyramid of light promo card. I also remember 8 year old me looking at it and going "Oh this card kinda sucks".

The cards that I got when I saw this movie were Blue Eyes Shining Dragon, Pyramid of Light, and Sorcerer of Dark Magic.

I definitely believe that Blue Eyes Shining Dragon destroys as many cards as the user wants, it makes sense for Pegasus saying that it is a card that can challenge the god cards. It wouldn't have that level of power without having just a delete button against the god cards.

The two cards in yugi's hand at the end should have been Exchange and Dubbed spell the Diffusion wave-motion card was a mistake by 4kids. It was actually corrected in the Japanese release of this movie.

Vague effects like "one or several cards" remind me of gen 1 pokemon TCG meowth having "flip coins do 10 damage for each head." back when the largest HP was like 80~100 if I remember correctly.

Honestly, I get kinda annoyed when Gods like Anubis (or Hades) get designated as the villains simply because they're the God of the Underworld or the Judge of the Dead. Anubis was not evil, if anything he was exactly what a "Judge" should be: fair and impartial. If they wanted to use an evil Egyptian deity, there was a very easy and obvious choice: Seth (the "H" is silent)! Seth is literally the Egyptian God of Evil who killed his own brother (Osiris) in an attempt to become the chief Egyptian God (only for Isis and Anubis to actually thwart him by resurrecting Osiris). If they really wanted to use Anubis, they should have made him an ally of Atem/Yugi who tried to aid Atem against Seth, rather than making Anubis the villain.

Yeah, it's one of those pop culture things that certain deities get misappropriated. Hades is a great example like you mentioned. Part of me wonders if they don't mention deities like Seth because it could expose people to them over impartial ones like Anubis.

I really don't like this duel at all it's just when you try to us a broken card like Pyramid of Light it just shows to me that he has no trust in his deck or his Talent at all. To seto has no talent for dueling at all. I mean the only way he can win. By cheating or broken cards

Screw you, Kaiba does have talent he just doesn’t believe in that heart of the cards mumbo jumbo and let me remind you that Yami Yugi is the one that is always cheating.
