Was Merlin Olsen mean in the NFL?

Kenny Stabler said it best about Merlin Olsen. He said Merlin was a great player but his best quality on the field was that he played you hard but went out of his way to not injure/maim you. Great player, better man, RIP Merlin.

Awesome video, thanks for posting it! Merlin Olsen was my childhood sports hero, I finally met him on an airplane to Tulsa, OK in 1986. I was going to Russellville, Arkansas to compete in a college national championship track meet. I asked him to autograph a math book of mine because it was the only thing I had with me to sign, he was very gracious. It is the only autograph I have ever got, and the only one I ever wanted. He was definitely a very big dude.

1967-71 Rams Defensive line is still considered the greatest ever. In 71 Merlin played Deacon Jones/Jack Youngblood (backing up Deacon in the 4 games he was out). 3 HOFs! Merlin Olsen - class act all the way.

Deacon was my favorite followed by Jack & Merlin. Other than the headslap Deacon played within the rules No drugs,no roids no arrests. The Secratary of Defense, David Deacon Jones.
