Let's not forget India didn't play proper cricket with Pakistan for almost a decade, other than world cup games, and those tournaments in dead pitches like Sharjah and Canada. Even in the 2003 world cup where Sachin smashed all of Pakistan, Wasim was the only one that did not get smashed, and even had a drop catch of Sachin. At the age of 37 lol.

What a great cricketer Wasim was so much skill with the ball just a master bowler, could bat a bit too, to this day he still commands the respect he deserves, and to top it off he is one of the most decent respectful blokes I've heard in interviews, loves his cricket still and has time and respect for everyone, his master class with Waqar was brilliant and so in depth, Nick Knight was in awe listening to him explain his technique, and you could see his total admiration for Wasim was still huge. I hope Wasim you stay in great health and have a long retirement cos you deserve it for the way you mastered your game and became arguably the greatest cricketer of your time.

It seems Sachin had no intentions to admire his bowling skills. He just tried to confuse the interviewer by admiring his batting and bowling skills equally and did it deliberately. Not even a stupid cricket fan would mention his batting skills before his bowling capability. Anyway, I am not surprised as he even rated H Cronje as the toughest bowler he has faced when he has played against the likes of Great W's, Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee, Shoib Akhtar, Murli, Allan Donald, Dale Steyn, Imran Khan, Shoib Akhtar, Saqlain, Aasif, Ambrose, Walsh , Anderson and the list is long. Some people justify his opinion to rate Cronje as toughest bowler as Cronje used to surprise him because of his extraordinary ability to read the intentions of the batsman. But because of this single ability it seems illogical to rate him better than the legendary bowlers of that era.

Sachin always praise every cricketer, I never seen he said negative about any cricketer. If you compare Sachin and Wasim head to head record, out of 25 odi Wasim got him 3 times only, in 7 test twice. This is very ordinary record. But it doesn’t mean Wasim was less bowler or Sachin was better, it’s more about how they battled in field.

ESPN Cricinfo ranked akram as the 21st greatest cricketer of all-time. Wisden voted him as the greatest ODI bowler of all-time. He's the only pakistani and one of the only two players from the subcontinent(the other being Sachin Tendulkar) to be selected in Wisden Cricket Almanack's All-Time Dream XI on the 150th Anniversary of the magazine's publication.
