Just like the video demonstrates. If you have upgraded your firmware, chances are that's the issue. Epson put out a firmware update years ago to combat the use of unaffiliated / aftermarket inks.

Is there a way to downgrade the firmware update for espon 1400? I'm having the problem it's not recognizing my aftermarket ink. I tried different ones.

This completely worked. I was in the middle of completing orders and my printer lights went crazy. I went straight to Google and KZbin. I have this 1430 for sublimation. Now I have to install a waste tank ASAP. My orders for now are done. So this printer will be on standby. Thank You!!!!

I think it's disgraceful that companies like Epson, Canon, HP and most of the others scam their users. We've paid for our printer yet we're held to ransom after an indeterminate amount of time. Shame on them!

I'm so grateful to have found this tutorial! Thank you for sharing. Now I can print my films! Just a note- initially the reset didn't work for me. From my print queue menu, I had to select "use printer offline". After that, it reset them!

Dude, this saved me! Sounds like you've done this more than once. I need to hook up the waste bottle to my 1400 but how often do you end up needing to do the reset, and how many times can you do it over the lifespan of a printer? Thanks again from a little north of you in TX.

I would be sure to install a waste tank so you don't flood / overfill the ink pads. You could then reset it as many times as you would like. There's really no limit. We've reset ours at least a handful of times.

Thanks for the great vid, I have a 1400 with blinking lights but the computer that it was originally connected to is no longer available. I tried installing on my laptop but because of the blinking lights it will not recognize it. Would this work with just the driver installed?

So Mickey, did anyone ever develop an unlock code for the Artisans 1430’s waste ink pads using Mac computers? My printer is now locked with an ‘end of life’ greeting statement due to the ink waste. I’m hoping to install an ink tank and buy an “unlocking” code to release the cartridge and then install a CISS system.

Use a paper towel soaked with some windex. With the printer on, press the ink button, unplug the machine, place the paper towel down on the track, and slide the head dover the paper towel.

NOPE! NOPE! NOPE! - Yall congratulating Mikey and saying how he's saved you hundreds even thousands. Not to take away from him but we should all be PISSED at Epson. You as a company put something in place to ensure we keep buying more Epson printers. And these keys aren't even lifetime keys wtf. So they're in on it to! I need to start a boycott page against Epson. The fact this waste ink is dependent upon how many times you do a print head cleaning and not actually something wrong with the printer is bull shit. What if every electronic device was programmed to do this. What if your car is programmed for the engine to shut down at 200k miles? What if your phone is programmed to malfunction after so many calls? If we allow Epson to do this we're essentially telling all manufacturers this type of behavior is allowable for all companies. BOYCOTT EPSON!
