To be 19 years old, your whole life ahead of you, your parents still alive, you’re at a festival, your friends are just as beautiful and free as you are, the sun is setting, music pounding across the fields, every atom of the earth pulsing with potential, understanding nothing, expecting everything. And then you wake up and you’re forty and just grateful that your depression seems to be under control.

Nice (sincerely). I grasp and hold tight to my memories at shows/festivals. Sitting in hours of traffic. Stuck in the mud somewhere. The sweet girls that left feminine products in the restroom. To the any-show-stranger(s) next to us who shared their consumables....To remember the feeling, the rush of being within the jammin' crowds' positive energy....To the 5K, to the alligators and the all nighter...the list goes on, Cheers!

@hamsicle and @tomjarmas4378, I’m sorry for both of your losses. To be honest, I hadn’t thought of Waste as a love song but in that context, it makes all the sense in the world. Tom, that is such a sweet story about recording this song for your dying wife. I say that because I am staring down the barrel of something similar: at 17 months old, my younger son was diagnosed with a genetic degenerative neurological illness that is terminal in infant patients called Tay Sachs. Life expectancy is between 3-5 years old and he will be 3-1/2 in a few weeks. We are doing our best to normalize our current life in dealing with this illness but also cherish and covet the time we have a family of four, before his illness starts shutting down the major body systems. We may have him with us for 3 months or 3 years; it is impossible to know and none of our amazing care team has said otherwise. I know the feeling of being in this kind of limbo of knowing the tidal wave is coming but you don’t know when. And I’m so sorry that we both have had to live in that limbo. I am glad you are getting some healing power from these four Vermonters. It’s a powerful community if you’re able to tap into it. I wish you the best of luck in your journey in healing and in grief, and know you are far from alone in dealing with these hard, hard issues.
@Philzy6102 ай бұрын
@tomjarmas4378 how sweet of you. That must have been the best gift for her. I just started learning it last night... Recorded me hitting the first few chords and sent to an old penpal flame. I hope you're doing OK and that the song only gives you the best memories of your beloved.

After one hour and one of our friends arrested, the instruments and equipment taken a bunch of us went back to my place to release, playing cards and in the background the Phish guys were playing from Magna ball. The one real musician of the tribe after a while he put a smile on his face under his delighted sleep eyes and just sad, with full satisfaction:"they are goooooood..."
