Do you see the beam of light at the top of Richards head, going up to heaven? This is a blessed man. ❤

IFS helped heal my childhood trauma. I was a gambling addict, I’m cured! I have no desire to gamble. I don’t even think about it. Thank you Dick Schwartz!

Congrats. How did you do it? Through self exercises or with a therapist?

I’m really new to IFS with my therapist. I couldn’t grasp the concept at first, but WHOA it has been transformative! You need to be patient, imaginative and have a therapist who compassionately guides you as demonstrated by Dr Swartz. Can’t recommend enough!

Oh wow! Monique, thank you for willing to be vulnerable to showcase IFS. It definitely showcased it much better than describing it. Excellent interview! ❤

Ive just done it along side you. And brought my little girl with me, to where I live now, like I wished my sister would, when I was little. Now I know, she couldnt back then.. but I could. Now. I am the strongest one and the one who understands and feels the truth.. always have. The only one in my whole family. I live by the river now in the same city my sister lived then. Little me threw all the burdens in the river and now she gets to find out ehat a good life is all about. Thank you, for getting My own life back. ❤️🔥

Having a river in the inner world is powerful. Especially those that have a relationship with God. The river of life flows from his throne and is used to heal the world in the book of rev. And jesus says that you will have wells of living water flowing inside of you. This is very helpful for those that have gone through spiritual abuse, or witchraft. The river can wash that stuff away. But it also can work with for fear, and releasing emotions. Just like you said, you sent them down the river.

You can observe the same innate love and goodness we have, in animals too. I've seen where horribly traumatized and isolated lab animals were taken into a sanctuary and the sole act of receiving regular compassion from another animal allowed their stifled feelings to bloom. Very moving and insightful to our own human experience. Love and kindness are not acquired from bibles or customs. These feelings are innate and will be expressed when it's safe.

This was so informative for me. Just got and finished An Introduction to IFS and was feeling a little overwhelmed. I think all my parts got together to say, Wait a minute,I'm not crazy with multiple personalities! We don't HAVE to go that deep! ...even though I know that's not what this is about. Ha! I stepped back and wanted to watch some of Dr. Schwartz's videos thinking maybe I would see things less threatening. This helped me so much and took six pages of notes. Monica, you also helped me so much. You connecting with your Little Monica helped me connect with Little Jean. GREAT interview with you both!

18:40 I'm balling! My god. I've done my own gestalt therapy before... I'm 49. But this? Talking to one scared 13 yr old girl That had her hip dislocated at 13. Wow. I did every step. I could only imagine if I did this with all the other parts of me. I needed this.

I have accidentally come across IFS website, or maybe it was meant to happen, as I was actually researching ecommerce! As a survivor who had to deal with childhood trauma I found this interview so effective and educational. I have listened, read and watched a lot related to trauma, abuse, but there is always a tendency to go up to a certain point as not to trigger people who have been traumatized and, in the end, they keep you away from the 'internal family systems'. I love this description. I did go through intensive counselling and I was lucky to have a very good counsellor, and my life changed in a way I can't describe, it feels really good. I loved the live demo and I did it alongside the host Monique. Feeling vulnerable is quite daunting but it was very encouraging to go through it in this space and feel safe. Thank you ever so much for sharing this as it can help lots of other traumatized people like me.

Thank you. I agree Self is inherent, an external relationship is not required.

What an incredible lesson this was to watch. A healing of a memory and parts, in real time. Not to mention the improved relational and emotional healing with the central person. Seeing it all flow naturally is such a valuable tool. So thanks to both of you for putting this out there.

I followed along and tried to connect with my vulnerable self at 5 years old. But she was completely shut down with no idea about how the world worked. She was too far gone to trust anyone. It was too late. I couldn't access any earlier events. I do know from years of therapy and insights from relatives that my very early life was violent and chaotic. Now I feel very sad that I sat with my young self and witnessed a little girl who appeared dead inside. By 5 years old, ot was already too late.
