Why is a Rado Captain Cook three times the price of a Wise AD8 Shades of Thailand? Is it worth spending three times as much for a recognizable watch brand over a watch microbrand?

I have already reviewed recognizable watch brands and watch microbrands on this channel. In fact my previous video about my three grail watches include both. What comes a lot when discussing watches is their perceived value. Quite often a watches price can be heavily affected by a Brand's reputation and historical relevance. Even if a particular watch is inexpensive to create, the right brand can increase it's perceived value significantly. When does Brand recognition and history become too expensive? There are a few watches that are loved by many collectors that I would never buy because to me they are a basic watch with expensive advertising attached. It's like paying $100 for a plastic bag that should only cost $1 because someone stamped a Fashion brand's name on it.
Now not everything produced by recognizable watch brands are a case of smoke and mirrors. There are some very beautiful luxurious timepieces being created that deserve the lofty price tag attached to them. Where we most often see superfluous pricing is in the more affordable end of the market. That's why watch microbrands have started to become so attractive to so many watch collectors. In the majority of cases you get what you pay for. The value on offer is excellent when compared to some of the more recognizable classic brands.
In this video I will explain why a watch enthusiast like me would be willing to spend three times as much on a Rado Captain Cook, but still enjoy having a Wise AD8 Shades of Thailand in their collection. I'll go into what you are actually paying for, why heritage matters sometimes, and how future value can be affected by which watches you decide to purchase.
