That Patek Phillipe 3970ER has the classiest look to it imaginable. A cream-colored dial in person too with age just melts brains. Upper tier grail. Totally a dream watch. Function and high horology and dressy in look. Belongs on the wrist of an architect or an Indiana Jones style professor or something

I learn a lot from you and I really appreciate the simplicity of your reasoning behind values etc. Here in Cape Town we occasionally get special pieces ,but the market is global now and volumes of truly nice stuff are not here unfortunately . I do wish to learn more about brands like UG for example and some others that are somewhat still under the radar as opposed to Rolex ,Patek,AP and other extremely high end watches which unfortunately most of can’t even dream of . 100%! However, issue is that nepotic French oligarchs are destroying the 2 brands Tag and Euer. The number of special editions, the marketing, the company, etc is following a terrible already well known path. :( As a Swiss I am bitter and sad.

Do you see much of a difference between the US auction market and the euro-zone? I've had more success buying in Europe at auction, paying the import fees etc than buying in US auctions. Not sure if it is logistics that scares people off, or strength of USD vs Euro. thoughts? thanks
