Without Seiko there would be no Casio and because of Seiko there was almost no Rolex. The fact they almost killed every other brand on the list makes them incredibly important, not to mention their own heritage. Seiko started in 1881, 24 years before Rolex. Post WWII racism against everything Japanese led to Seiko being disregarded for decades until they proved to the world they could hold their own (and even exceed) what the Swiss were producing. Grand Seiko are better finished, with better movements, more innovative technology, and actually take risks with their designs, as opposed to Rolex. Also you can actually buy a Grand Seiko and not be on a wait list for 5 years and still pay double the retail price. I love Rolex, and I love you mate, but you’re totally wrong about Seiko and GS.

@@JayandSarah dude Rolex has market share and amazing marketing. They are a "better" brand than everyone but their watches are no where near a blancpain or breguet for the same money or less. Rolex is the most popular best marketed mass produced watch brand and therefore the most expensive of them. Although I do think Rolex is ruining it's image rn. It's very distasteful to sell to the Rolex ads who are scumbags through and through. I do not consider Rolex the king of watches in its current state being run by people who are in turn controlled by basically an ad mafia. They are knowingly selling to ads who sell most of their watches to grey market dealers. This is why all the grey market guys all claim Rolex is the one and only brand and all other brands are shit and have nothing on them. They make the most money selling Rolex. A submariner used to cost 5k new, now it's 8k and 14-15k grey market. It is just a money making scheme at this point. They need to do what ap does. Only sell via Rolex boutiques and make their watches somewhat available to the consumer even if it increases their prices. Something scummy is going on because Rolex are loosing money not selling at higher prices to customers and letting their stock go to the gray market. My belief is that they are doing this to place their watches in a position where Rolex themselves can charge what the grey market is charging. Of course when they eventually go to boutiques that is. I still would buy Rolex having said all this. Although omega and Breitling especially have been impressing me alot recently.

I know right. Grand Seiko is just about the most innovative watch brand, and they're in no imaginable way worse than Rolex, especially since GS watches are largely hand-made with a pretty high degree of the famous Japanese craftsmanship and engineering involved, whereas the vast majority of Rolex watches are the exact same mass-produced, barely quality-controlled watches that they've been selling for literal decades without any significant change. Yes, the Sky Dweller is cool, but hardly anyone appreciates it for its mechanical complexity. Everyone cares about the brand, even if the Rolex watches are frankly absolutely disgusting. Maybe their movements are accurate, but they PP would likely still beat them on that front and GS Spring Drive offers ten time the precision.

Putting A Lange & Sohne in the "meh" category, and ranking Timex higher, is like putting Aretha Franklin in fourth place on American Idol. Lange is on its own level, beyond Rolex. Patek and Lange should be on top. Why is it that people that do these rank the blocks of watch brands videos dont get the provenance and exceptionalism of a maker like Lange. It's like saying you'd rather have a Camry instead of a Rolls Royce. Rolex is a mass marketed over-hyped brand, someone try to explain why a stainless steel Daytona is 20 grand or more, makes no sense.

Mate he just keeps on screaming about how good Rolex is, and blah blah blah while Rolex doesn't even offer a see-through caseback to at least appreciate what kind of "mind boggling" movement it has. And btw, it's not just any churched up Quartz movement, it's the best there is in history in terms of quartz- and specially how precise and smooth it is. Plus given their longetivity and at least in the indian market where a pre owned rolex is more expensive than an Omega or a GS for that matter- I would rather pick up a Speedy and a GS at the price of a Datejust or an Oyster Perpetual and be absolutely content with it.

@@Weakeyedominant those numbers are pretty off. The only Grand Seikos that are plain awful are their divers, but there are less than 5 on the site. Their old Sport GMTs are also massively oversized. tbh only a few of GS offerings are actual wearable for average wrists and dont look tacky. As a owner of a whitte birch and mutiple GS previously, the brand has failed to connect with me due to the lack of iconic design and overall lack of design cohesiveness. Though i do agree finishing at that price point is hard to beat. JLC does it better at that price IMO

@@ivantan6197 the wearability is getting better. The White Birch is wearable on almost all mens' wrists and most women's wrists. The newer 40m Sports Chronographs are soooo much better than the old gargantuan ones. The Elegance collection has plenty in the 37-39mm range. Their divers are still absolutely hilarious though. Like, what are they thinking making rip-off Sea Dwellers that are so much bigger and yet so much worse specs wise? Regular Seiko divers are so much better.
