This scene demonstrates two things well: 1. Hank is still a dirty cop. Probably not to Mike’s level but dirty nonetheless. 2. Hank has his own ego and masculinity to answer to much like Walt. He goaded these guys into a bar fight to try to feel like he’s The Man again because of his PTSD from Tuco and the El Paso threat

I always felt like Hank and Walt are two sides of the same coin. Maybe if Hank was in Walt's shoes he would have done very much the same mistakes / decisions.

I don’t see how this makes him dirty. It’s not right but by no means no where near dirty. He wasn’t bullying or exploiting weak men.

@@Dilomight he’s dirty because of his continued abuse of the law he’s supposed to enforce in his own idea of trying to pursue justice. If you want more evidence, the scene where he peeped into an innocent couple’s RV when trying to find Jesse’s RV rather than going back and getting a warrant. There’s the standoff with Old Joe over him trying to break into the Crystal Ship without a warrant which would’ve led to fruit of the poisonous tree. Then of course the assault and battery on Jesse that resulted in 0 consequences except a mere suspension from work.

After he saw the guys get blown up in El Paso he got ptsd so he went back to New Mexico which made him feel like less if a man so he started a random fight to make himself feel better
