Female hummingbirds are amazing hard workers! Righteous warriors in the hummingbird breeding game! Their nests are little miracles that serve so many needs.

A little bit of this strong stuff. A little bit of that soft stuff, then tamp, tamp, tamp...spin. Repeat and just like that...voilà!! A perfect baby basket🥰 Great work Emerald!! Thanks so much Carole for showing us so many amazing things we'd never see without you!

I am in so much awe, that none of these birds were taught how to build their own unique type of nests, and where to gather the items to build them, yet a hummingbird's nest is different from a robin's, which is different from a magpie's, etc. It blows my mind how they instinctively just 'know'.

I had an Allen hummer build a nest on patio string lights just outside the kitchen window in Orange County, California last June. What a privileged view of these mesmerizing, miraculous little creatures! Now I'm forever a hummingbird lover.

She can build a house without having hands. Yet I have 3 men working on remodeling the kitchen for 2 months 😣. I should have been a Hummingbird ☺️

Thanks for adding the other hummingbird nest cam in addition to the the on e with Emerald. My concern with the other nest cam that was added is if that piece of big fruit that the nest is sitting on drops off? I mean as fruit gets ripe on trees, it often drops off, and if it did, wouldn't it take the nest to the ground with it? Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, it really looks like it's sitting on the big piece of fruit....It would be nice if they could put an old soft blanket under the nest in case that happens...
@HummingbirdSpot3 жыл бұрын
Don’t worry, it takes 2-3 months for that fruit to ripen.

Question do you know of any hummingbird bird houses , had a hummingbird and he got attacked and lost the kids so I was thinking of building a hummingbird house but what’s the success rate of them using the house, human build house ? Thanks you
@HummingbirdSpot3 жыл бұрын
Intuitively you would think it’s a good idea but they won’t use them.

3:30 She moves so fast.......maybe I'm not seeing what I think I saw. 🧐🤔 It looks like she just plucked a flying insect out of the air and then used its body as packing material for her nest. It can be a "sneaky-snack" for later. 😂😂😂
