@aftonrae4038 Жыл бұрын
Yes that doesn’t make any sense. They have time to go to the gun range but not the doctor. I’m wondering if they were kind of aware of their neglect and did the thing that a lot of divorced or absent parents do. The parent is either too busy or not around for a period of time and then pop up to take their kid to do something really fun or something that would make them look like the “cool” parent before disappearing again. His parents weren’t attentive in any way to him, his education, or his social life but thought that buying him a gun, something that most parents wouldn’t be “cool” enough to buy for their kid and taking him to the shooting range would make up for basically being absent for weeks at a time. Before my parents were divorced my dad was really involved in our daily lives and was a great dad but After my parents were divorced and he moved an hour away and quickly married one of the women that he was having an affair with, My dad used to do the same thing with myself and my younger brother.
@gatolibero8329 Жыл бұрын
I would just like to point out that the state is charging Ethan as an adult of sound mind in this case, not a CHILD, but then charging the parents with involuntary manslaughter on the basis of child neglect. Do the math on that one. You make the statement "they couldn't take him to the doctor for a possible mental illness", but then happily go right along with the state's own assessment of the situation. So what will it be? Is Ethan a CHILD or an ADULT? Assuming he's an ADULT, then why/how should the parents remain culpable for his crimes or his mental healthcare? Assuming he's a CHILD, then why is he being charged as an adult? Do you see the irony there? You can't have it both ways.

This kid is way more f’ed up than I think anyone EVER imagined! I watched mom’s trial first and then came here. I had a very strong dislike for mom while watching her trial. I believed the parents’ negligence was completely to blame for what happened Nov 30, 2021. After only watching about the first 30 minutes of this trial, and hearing everything, this psycho kid wrote in his journal, I feel differently. This kid is evil personified. His parents’ negligence played a part responsibility for those lives that were taken that day. However, this kid is not right in the head. Maybe if his parents had listened to him and gotten him the mental health help he needed, the school shooting would not have happened. I still think he was determined enough to do this, that he would’ve gotten a gun some way even if dad had not bought one for him. I hope this very disturbed child never, ever sees the light of day.

It's 'woe is me'. Whoa is the wrong word and doesn't make any sense in the phrase you used it in. Also, this was a CHILD... one that was BEGGING his parents and teachers for help with his mental health, he was literally hallucinating and severely depressed. His parents are more at fault for his actions in this case. He is/was mentally ill and when he begged his parents for help EVERY way he could, they took him to buy a GUN and brought him to a shooting range INSTEAD of getting him to the shrink he told them (more than once) he needed. Yes he made the choice and acted on the evil in his mind all by himself. Seems to me it was the only way he could get real help. He'd tried everything else, every other way of being direct AND acting out to get attention and help for his psychosis. OF COURSE He deserves to be punished, likely for the rest of his life, but his parents deserve much worse. IMO.

Why in the world didn't they present this information about his parents at Jennifer's trial? They presented such trivial evidence that didn't really amount to much. What I'm hearing here is a totally different story. Listening to this evidence really changes my opinion on James and Jennifer Crumbley and I wish the jury at her trial would have had a more complete picture. All they showed at her trial was that she spent a lot of time on her hobby and she had an affair, neither of which equate to gross negligence, and that she failed to take him home after the math assignment, which was also, in part, the school's fault.

As an educator myself this is so hard to watch. These people are amazing. I'd like to think that I'd be so selfless in the same situation, but I don't know. I've had to lock down with a classroom of kids, both in a drill and real life and it's a traumatic experience. It was for me. I'm not sure about the kids. I don't like to talk to them about it because it's bad enough that they have to grow up like this, I don't want to make it worse. I try to treat it like any other drill that kids have to do in school. But when it's real life it's sooooo scary. Especially when you have no clue what's happening. You just know that you need to protect your kids. One of my nephews was at Marysville high school when the shooting happened there. He knew all the kids that were killed and knew the shooter very well. They all grew up and lived on the Tualip reservation and it's a close knit area. He has had a very difficult time coping. At an 1:57:00 that cop is having a hard time. I don't blame him. I can't imagine how difficult that would be to have to walk past a dying child and not be able to render aid until the shooter is in custody. I would also like to know, this friend he was texting, is he in trouble for encouraging this behaviour? Or was he just, playing the cool guy and not meaning or thinking anything would come of it. If the latter, I wonder what his reaction to this was and if he got some help. And I'd like to know what the parents charges are. They were just as responsible for this happening.

When I first heard he was 15 I thought maybe he could change when he got older but, after hearing all these details & the poor birds, nah…he’s a serial killer for life so give him LWOP! I feel so bad for that man who had to watch the videos… He’s sick & demented!!! I don’t think I’d have a problem with him getting the DP tbh

Considering jail food isn’t the healthiest and his parents literally didn’t have food in the house for him regularly, yea he’s gonna gain some weight. He’s also 16, he’s about to hit at least 1 major growth spurt, 2 if he hasn’t had one yet. Boys tend to have 2 major growth spurts, at 14-17 and then again around 18-21 for the last time

He did, but he can’t give them reason for appeal so he has to do it in a way that seems measured and unbiased. I wholeheartedly agree that the defense team were out of pocket and way beyond the bounds of appropriate questioning for that staff member. Completely unprofessional! The judge handled it as well as he could, as soon as the prosecution objected he started redirecting the questioning and he sustained multiple objections.

This witness wasn't even involved with him, so to attack her with questions about reporting as if she was involved with him and did something wrong seems far fetched. They are going to go down this road with all the witnesses to garner sympathy for him.

Awful case. So glad his parents are being prosecuted, this was totally preventable and he literally was crying out for help. Sadder still that he carried out his murderous intent on those birds and at the school. He deserves LWOP but so do his parents - blood is on their hands too.

@brie9960 Жыл бұрын
I don’t disagree with teaching a teenager how to shoot🤷🏼♀️ it’s the circumstances around them taking him that I take issue with. They knew he was psycho (literally) and still decided to take him shooting AND buying him gun. The shooting range doesn’t do much if there’s no access to guns outside of there. The mother thought it was a joke “just don’t get caught lol” text from his mother after getting called to pick up her kid from school (and refusing!) because he was looking up bullets and guns in class.
