If there isn't a setting in the menu display options, this would be a VIN specific programming, part of the microprocessor firmware, not a eeprom selection.

Plug in a scan tool and read the sensor. Also run a gauge test sweep before you buy a new cluster and have it programmed.

Hey Jeff I have the same type cluster. The LEDS/ backlights work but nothing else . The motors are dead and no displays. The large 3 leg regulator in the middle of the board has no voltage feeding it . Have you ever seen this issue ? Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. You are very good and informative.

Typically the power will pass through a diode before the input of the regulator, check that out.

Yes I understand. All diodes check good and the 12 volt leg ( facing the bd) top right leg gets it feed from another transistor on the far right of the bd. Know clue where that transistor gets its feed or what switches it. Looks like this one is scrap. Just wandering if you'd ever seen this issue ? First time I've seen this . Ty sir

Put the board in the freezer, the see if it will boot up. If not warm cpu with hot air and check again. The cpu typically switces the voltage regulators on older versions.

I have a 2009 Yukon cluster that work intermittently. Usually doesnt work when it has sat overnight in the cold. Once the vehicle is warmed up and the key is recycled it all works. If interested in quoting, let me know.

Hi, nice job you did there, very smart ! So me 2 have one problem and I think it is related with the cluster. I own a mazda 2 petrol 2007 semi-auto. Every time I put the ignition ,the cluster shows normal and after I start the engine, 10 sec normal and then, the gear display dies with the count-tours and the anti-theft goes intermitent. The DTC is: Lost comunication with the IC. At the beginning I suspected a false contact in the can network-cheked, after that a power problem, but not all led's goes off on the cluster, so ... With the engine on, when I engage Hi beam, the cluster reborn and dies again with the lights off. Can you think of something ??? Thanx

malinovschi rares I'm sorry I'm not very familiar with that cluster. Only advice I can add is standard electric trouble shooting. Start with looking for fractured solder joints.

Hey man, quick question what pins are you using on the harness to power the cluster? Also on your power supply do you have it set to 12v and 10amps?

I don't remember the pins off memory, but I'm pretty sure I found a wiring diagram off a Google search. This cluster draws less than one amp, anymore than that you got problems.

J Cabral for this cluster and other GM's the mileage is stored in the cluster. If you install a junk yard cluster, it will show the miles of the junk yard vehicle.

NuWavUSA I was able to pull enough information from the part number printed on the chip and order it from either mouser, Newark or Digi-Key. I don't remember exactly it's been a while.

Well a junk yard cluster will "work" but the odometer will show the miles of the vehicle it came out of, instead of your vehicles true miles. And the 07+ GM's are very picky about the options, so if the braking, suspension and option are not a match, your message center will be screaming warnings and errors at you. Just get your original cluster repaired. A junk yard cluster could just fail in the same way soon to.

Homar Garcia I would recommend to find an electronic technician with experience at component level repair. Otherwise at a higher cost you could exchange it at the dealership. Not all dealerships are equipped with both the equipment and experienced auto tech to program the new cluster, so ask questions.

Jeff, what happens to cause the Mosfet, 100 om resistor, and driver to burn up? I have watched many similar videos without encountering the answer to this question. Can you enlighten me? Is there anything that can be done to prevent it?

I'm just guessing, but the engineers might have underspeced the the MOSFET when they selected it. The resistor and chip failing is caused buy a shorted mosfet pulling too much current and putting power in places it doesn't belong. I've been soldering a heat sink lead to the heat sink tab to give it more thermal mass to dissipate heat from.

i pulled from customers 04 silverado had the c5s on ut befire i started i checked power supply at harness as well as battery needles felt choppy so i put power to board to check light most were out so i put x27 replacements new bulbs and hit every resistor with some 60/40 also reflowed harness pins on either side to ensure power flow from harness when plugged in so back lights all work engine light is constant no gauges nor prndl nor odometer their both still black so both should be good prom chip is secured regulators appear to be good and capacitor is still in good shape u have 3 units now like this and its my head off the wall now if you follow what i mean seen your vids and i know and follow your experience as well at this point im at stand still with those or find wrecker units to transfer to these customers of mine rebuild those etc but will end up stocking these boards until i can get answer to this problem

J Cortes No, I don't have a video of that. Well because that style doesn’t go bad under normal circumstances. Have you hooked up a scan tool and run a gauge sweep to confirm you don't have a sending unit or other issue?

Jeffry Briones I think you can find 3rd party aftermarket modules that can be added to restore the sounds. But I don't think there is anything you can do to restore radio reset of tire monitor, oil and key fod settings through the radio.

If you blew and opened the 100 ohm then your driver chip is also going to be damaged. I would recommend to send it to someone that is experienced with component level repair.

jeffescortlx 2007 tahoe while I was exiting the highway I heard a sound like something broke and I stopped and turned off the truck and nothing was different from the bottom I turned it back on and the gas marked empty after being full before the noise iam so stressed cuz my dashboard is all cracked and if I change the cluster I will have to buy a new dashboard also

Jeanetie Trevino So did you run something over? You might have just damaged the sending unit or wiring for the sending unit. Take the vehicle to someone with the proper scan tool to check the sending unit signal. Otherwise you might be throwing money at things that aren't broken.

Gordo Diaz I typically charge 100 plus return shipping. This includes driver chip, gate resistor, mosfet, foil repair when needed and proper electronic calibration. Covers the worst case scenario. There are people on ebay that will do it for less. But I can't speak for them if they can handle the bad ones.

I believe it's a 3528 orange. But its not normal for them to burn out naturally on their own. Did you buy the truck used? Previous owner may have "disabled" it. Maybe with a piece of tape, or maybe with a chisel.

Yes, but it will show the odometer value of the vehicle it came out of, not going into. This could have a big impact on any insurance payouts or trade in/sale values.
