For the aesthetics alone, I pick The Art of Soil, but when you finished the swatches, I realized those colors were just extraordinary. So, stopped the video and browsed their pages for half an hour, as you do, then back to see the rest of the vid. I really enjoy your swatching videos, and yes, it is so much less stressful doing them this way than making all those little grids with all their regimented structure. Who needs structure when ‘arting’? Cheers!

The only handmades I've bought have been from Dan Barrett here on KZbin, and thankfully he's taking a break so I can't do any more damage LOL. I've pre-decided I'm not going down that road!! The Art of Soil palette looks very cool, but those tiny pans... no wonder you weren't picking up much pigment! And how do you fit in a refill color? The way you swatched the Derwent was my favorite. It seems there is a big trend for dusky, deep colors -- the Japanese brands are doing it too.

Kristi, I think we need to address the truth about paintbrushes! Now, you try to be fair to all products and I appreciate that tremendously, however... In one of your videos, you compared the round brush to the dagger brush, claiming that both can be used for achieving the results we are looking for. Well, since taking your fantastic advice, I have acquired a 1/4 dagger and the results were revealing to say the least! My control, and ability to put paint where and how I want it has improved at least 70% with just one session of doodling around! I would struggle with my round brush! I couldn't control how the paint would shape itself on the page. My petals were weird blobs, but now with the dagger, I can make them a nice shape and if I mess up, that pointy tip is masterful for pinstriping and controlled line adjustments! In my humble opinion, there is no comparison between the two! The dagger brush is the best brush design for me, and because of the results I'm getting now, I am even more encouraged to practice and paint for fun! I think saying the round brush is equally easy to use is incorrect, well at least it was for this little newbie! Thank you for showing us how awesome this brush is. I can't wait to get my painty fingers on a dagger that you have designed! I so appreciate you! 💜

I’ve been buying from Kelsey (31PurpleFish) for almost 3 years now. I love her! Literally my fave. The reason why there are not many warm hazes is because there are not many naturally granulating/separating warm pigments in general! Kelsey does have some occasionally and has mentioned trying to make some more warm colors, but the pigments themselves are the limitation!

Allow me to recommend a dagger brush! It rocked my world when I first tried one vs. A round brush. And yes Academy paper is amazing for the price, especially when compared to other 100% cotton paper. My Arches Hot Press 11.69" x 16.53" paper cost $40 for 12 sheets. I know, it seems crazy expensive until I explain that by cutting each sheet into 8 card blanks, I am actually getting 96 card fronts of the best paper available (IMHO) for just $0.42/each. For practice I use Academy and I sometimes use the Canson XL that I buy for my kids who are now watercolor snobs! Lol. I have found that what I pay in money for excellent supplies pays off in great results with color mixing, effects, and the ability to correct something multiple times and not wear a hole through my paper. My artist skills excepted (I'm still learning), my stuff looks gorgeous because of the high quality supplies I like to use. It truly is worth it, especially if you are having issues with achieving the results you want, my paper was holding me back because at the time I didn't realize how much it mattered!

@@hesaid-shesaid995 thank you so much for the tips. When watching watercoloring videos, I definitely can’t achieve the same look with my current paper.
