On questions 15, when you plug in -6 for y, you'd just end up with x>6 correct? Also, if you plug it into desmos, it gives all values greater than 6. This one is confusing me.

while dealing with abs values, you get 2 values.... one in -ve and the other in +ve (e.g.) x+2=|-8| the result would be: 1. x+2=8 2. x+2=-8

You are correct. X is always greater than 6. The author is confused. The author is correct if the given condition is |x| > 6. In this case, x > 6 or x < -6 is the solution.

@@muhammadshahryarameer5637 Your second solution is x = -10. If you plug in this value into your given equation, x+2 becomes -8 which is not equal to absolute value of -8 (right hand side). This is a better example | x+2 | = 8 x + 2 = 8 gives you x = 6 x + 2 = -8 gives you x = -10 These are the correct solutions.

because the slanted line is just a tiney bit more than 5. Think of it as a right triangle and do pytho. theorum on it, base 5, height 5, the hypoteneus is 5 root 2 which is a tiney bit more, and hence it can't be reached by the equilateral triangle.

I disagree with your answer of question 51, 1:33:09 and that it should be option B. This is because they said “at least one” so the probability should be done for one piece. I tried searching on the internet for the correct answer but I couldn’t find it so I can’t confirm which of our answers are correct

Probability doubles because you have 2 tries. Saying “at least one” is the same as saying “1 or the other”. For “or” statements you add probability together. For “and” you multiply.

The author did not do this problem correctly, although his answer “numerically” comes close to the correct answer A. Having at least one extra piece in 2 selections is the same as 1 minus the probability of having NO extra piece in 2 selections. Probability = 1 - (800/810)(800/810) = (1 - 800/810) (1 + 800/810) = (10/810) (1 + 800/810) The correct answer is numerically close to doubling 10/810. There is another way to solve this problem by enumerating the desired outcomes for 2 selections, but the solution (and explanation) is longer.

@@JonahStevens-pb1gj You cannot multiply the probability by the number of tries. If that is true, then after 81 tries, the probability becomes 1. After 81 tries, your probability exceeds 1. Saying AT LEAST ONE for 2 tries means 01, 10, 11 where 1 means an extra piece. For 3 tries, it means 001, 010, 011, 100, 101, 110, 111.
