The biggest flaw was definitely that Niko's face is such a different shape from Wren's. It still uses the whole head and neck shape from Niko, and his range of facial expressions is fundamentally different from Wren's. For instance, Niko has a smaller mouth, so the fake Wren's mouth movements were small and vague. His eyes and brows are also more squinty and furrowed in a resting position, so that affected his expressions.
@RyanConnell51502 жыл бұрын

The biggest downsides here are easily controllable for an attacker - using someone with a similar face shape/build/hair, who can do a vocal impression (although that might not be needed for long). The regional manager of your company calls asking you to make a big transfer without the usual approval because it's time-sensitive. People fall for this all the time over the phone or even with a spoofed, similar or phished email address, and this is clearly convincing for a short amount of time for even a sceptical viewer.

This is really good. Doing something like this in real-time and getting good results is really crazy. The biggest problem I notice that you didn't really mention is that Wren has really defined dimples and creases around his mouth. Niko has very little dimples, around his mouth. Especially since his facial hair hides it. Niko has a very definitive creasing around his eyes when his mouth moves. The deepfake was doing what deepfakes do, and just smoothed the creases and dimples away. It is a bit noticeable to anybody with experience doing deepfakes. It should be especially noticeable to viewers when any sort of shadow crosses in front of the person's face. It would likely create strange blurring patterns as the deepfake smoothed the faces' features. Another great video! I like the informative topics like this one the best!

4:42 *THERE IT IS AGAIN!* Please, can someone tell me what the name of this song is?? I've been searching for it since forever, but whenever I come across it, there's also talking on top of it so Shazam can't tell what it is *AND* it is never mentioned in the comments, nor in the video description. If anyone knows, it would truly make my day to learn what it's called. Would be great background music for drawing. :)

As much as I like Niko's optimism for what crazy things this could be applied to it is actually very scary too, if in the wrong hands, which at some point is inevitable. I image smear campaigns doctoring false incriminating videos or blackmail. Even if proven as a fake, you can't wipe away that first impression in some peoples minds.

I've been following this project and the live version hasn't gathered a lot of community support, most people are sticking to the more accurate non real-time version. For someone to do this they'd need a NVidia GPU with 8+ GB Vram and ton of photos of the target person to train from (diff lighting and expressions ect) as well as a lot of time. Niko trained himself and Wren on three 3090's at the same time and took weeks, with more training needed and more settings to tweak. As cool as the live version is it needs a lot more data for training than the non real-time version they've been using before and doesn't look as good as deepfaking a video.

I think you need to use a high quality camera for the stream cam, then once the deepfake is comp'd in bump the quality down to stream quality with lower saturation and contrast. The quality difference in the webcam to the deepfake jumped at me and if you give a coating of compression as one unit it will sell the effect even more.

@RichieLarpa2 жыл бұрын
It depends on what you consider Corridor. I see that they got popular in their newer channel Corridor Crew with "VFX Artists React", which got viral and their channel got more famous to other people. But I remember times, where they shot films on their primary channel Corridor Digital (now known as simply Corridor), they still do, but not so much, compared to their regular content here. I am a veteran at this point (joined KZbin in 2008) and honestly I miss the older times, where the main channel was the star back in those days. I see that you are even older, that is why I am curious, how do you mainly recognize those guys?

This entire video is such a great experiment. It's proof that deepfake isn't the solution for bringing back actors or a younger version of those because even if a person has the same face shape and you train the AI to make a deepfake to that specific double's face, this person will flex different muscles when they smile. When Niko smiles, his eyes get really small, much smaller than Wren's when he smiles so the deepfake will try to mimic what Niko's face is doing which is not what Wren's face would. You can't train someone to override what muscles their face will flex when doing complex facial expressions. So cool and so fun! I love this channel.

Hey Niko! I was thinking that you could speed up the training process by including an auxilliary GAN discriminator for the reconstruction function. I'm not sure what the current deepfake technology looks like exactly, I've had good results reconstructing data with autoencoders that used the internal features of a GAN discriminator as a reconstruction function. If the software doesn't use GAN-like losses (as I intuit due to the slight blurriness of the result), maybe trying that out will give a final boost to the decoder!
