Big apologies for the edit on this one again guys. Universal Europe and some other fat cat completely blocked every single version I tried to upload in 99% of countries, only allowing those in Austria to watch...? So after the 5th attempt at trying to make it, this one finally got past the copyright block. I'd rather not have my mug blocking the entire screen for these movie commentaries, but if KZbin is going to block you from seeing them at all, then my mug will have to do. Hope you all still enjoy it! Kris

Will you review 'The Reef' which was based on the survivor account of individuals stalked by a Tiger Shark off Australia after their fishing boat went down? The film changed the tiger shark to a Great White, but it's a very suspenseful film and doesn't have some kind of 'super shark' in it, so would love your thoughts on it.
@kyze82846 ай бұрын
Open Water was similar if it's the right one. Supposedly based on a real story, sailboat capsizes, one of the four or five on the boat stays behind for rescue, the others try to swim to the nearest shore (they hope) and are stalked by a juvenile/injured rogue white shark that decided they were easy food

This movie is one of my guilty pleasures, as are most of the films directed by David R. Ellis (Snakes on a Plane, Final Destination 2). Sadly this was the last film he made before he passed away. Before becoming a director he spent decades as a stunt man, stunt coordinator, and 2nd unit director. Also, the guy playing Red was Josh the cameraman in The Blair Witch Project, probably the only of the three actors from that film to have any kind of a career afterwards.

You’ve said in a few commentaries that you should use a tourniquet for major bleeding from a shark bite. Here in the uk tourniquets are not recommending for use due to the risk of nerve and blood vessel damage. Also they need to be applied several inches above the wound as arteries tend to shrink back when severed. They also should be applied around part of the limb with a single bone, eg upper arm or thigh. Uk medical guidelines still state that elevation and direct pressure is the the gold standard and will work in 99% of cases.
@TrappedinSLC Жыл бұрын
Also if you don't put one on right it can actually increase the rate of bleeding. So if you determine one is necessary for some reason, you have to put it on with CONVICTION. (Apparently if it doesn't hurt like hell it probably isn't on tight enough? Am not an expert.) The fact that you can make things worse if you mess it up means I'd definitely keep it as the very last last resort.

I'm from Louisiana, south of the I-10 (that's Interstate 10 for ya'll from across the pond and whatnot ) it's all water with a few high spots where people live. Most of it is brackish water. There are some spots where you can catch Largemouth Bass AKA Green Trout , and Redfish on alternate casts. In the summer the estuaries get a lot of baby sharks in them. Good job on the pronunciation of Tulane. It's not even close to a 12 hour drive from anywhere in Louisiana to anywhere else in Louisiana. The lake on the northern tip of New Orleans is Lake Pontchartrain, it's brackish and known to have some good sized bull sharks in it. One made the news last year when it was caught off the seawall. The lake isn't closed off , you can get to the Mississippi Sound and the Gulf of Mexico from the lake as well as the Mississippi River. I used to fish that area a lot.

0:40 One would think someone nearby would hear a woman being eaten by a shark, but I was trying to break up a vicious fight amongst my family’s 4 dachshunds (one was definitely trying to kill the other, the other two were just frantically biting everything in the fray) and I was absolutely SCREECHING for help while of course the dogs were also extremely loud and got no response. It surely sounded like I was being torn apart by dogs. I was screaming HELP HELP HELP at the top of my lungs in between screams of pain and terror and screaming at the dogs NO STOP NO OH GOD HEEEELLPPP. Nobody from inside my house heard me, nobody from the house next door four feet away from where I was struggling heard me, presumably nobody at all in my densely packed, otherwise very alertly nosy neighborhood heard me, because I was on my own. 4 weenies versus me. Luckily I broke up the fight with no tragedy, mainly just embarrassment for not being able to quickly end a fight of four normally sweet 12 lb weenies. I was fine, only bad scratches, bruises, and my hand bitten - at one point as I lifted my hand, a dog was still hanging off, biting my palm. The dogs had worse damage, but still ok, mostly their ears bit through and torn though one had a pretty deep puncture would in his neck from a proper chomp. Luckily the vet’s office is just block away. Hell, I felt like we were so loud they could’ve heard the ruckus over there. We should’ve set off the whole kennel section barking. So, no serious damage, but I did develop lingering distrust of my neighbors since nobody did anything about the girl screaming repeatedly for help while in obvious terror and pain. (Yet I’ve called 911 on the neighbors who live in the house on the other side for the exact reason, only, unfortunately, it was domestic violence. I could hear them from their kitchen into my bedroom, it was so bad. I truly thought I was going to hear her die at his hands. And they know it was me who called. They’re still married 20 years later, but they moved away right after that and lease the house out.) I am the queen of tangents and terrible at storytelling, btw, have you noticed? I am not afraid of my dachshunds, *even though a woman has really been killed by a pack of wiener dogs*. We divided them up for a few months after that and my brother took the most aggressive little doggie, Sadie, to live with him for a while😂. They all chilled out in their old age and didn’t fight at all for their last 10+ years as a family of dogs. Only one is left now, Gillie, and he lives with me. RIP Sadie, Sophie, and Gussie. The yappy but vicious land sharks of my youth. ❤
