The short answer is no it won't affect your warranty. Ford/dealer must prove the disaster prevention kit cause the failure. This would be impossible as all your adding is a filter and adapter block. If your under warranty and the pump fails under warranty your getting a complete system anyways. Just due to the way warranty works. Well I should correct myself if the failure was warrantable in the first place. This meaning there was no rush, water, gas, def, or other contamination on the vcv or in the filters. Pulling the PCV is no longer needed per the fuel system GSB

this right here Is things I want to see. I've been building my 6.7 for a few years after cylinder 4 decided it wanted to be nasa and go to the moon. thanks to covid it took a year just to get all the parts to complete my engine. it's a fully built engine, stage 2 trans done by Sam Wyse too. MPD compounds and at the moment a rcd stroker, waiting for H&S to send the dual fueler kit been on back order since October... I bought the SPE disaster kit but I've had a few mishaps that really messed up a lot so I didn't want to use it. plus no one had any proof that it protects anything. and with me having almost 6k in 100% over injectors I just want proof that it's going to actually protect my poor investment. S&S for the win here!

After having a CP4 failure, I do want to install one of these. I think I'd prefer the glass bottom filter though, in hopes of seeing the first few "sparklies" before the pump comes completely apart, potentially leaving me on the side of the road again.

I change fuel filters (Motorcraft 4615) every other oil change, and drain the separator every couple fuel stops into a glass jar to look for water and never saw any. I mailed a fuel sample to a lab after the failure and they said they saw nothing wrong with it. I requested the dealer either inspect the cores, or allow me to see if there was rust on the left rail valves and sensors (in case some water escaped me), they refused. Maybe I was just one of the "lucky ones" the roller bucket flipped on.

There is a new filter in the Gen2.1 that is no longer a 2 micron and doesn’t have see through bottom I wonder if that will effect protection? I ordered the new Billet Alumium for the new filter haven’t installed yet till the Gen2 needs to be changed.

I'm brand new to the world of diesel engines. I put the S&S Disaster prevention kit on my 2019 6.7L myself. It took just alittle more time than the pros, but i did it. Read and watch videos on installation. No leaks, run just fine and what a piece of mind.

I have one sitting on my parts shelf from when I had a beautiful 2015 Platinum 6.7 with 120k on it, but I sold the truck before I could put it on. I just can't bring myself to spend the hours putting it on my 2021 Tremor 6.7 when I have the 100k extended warranty... if I fall victim to the failure, either way the truck is going down and as long as it wasn't proved to be my fault, Ford is fixing it. What's the book hours on a CP4 job vs full failure job? I could see maybe if I was hot shotting and it made a several day turnaround difference while I'm on the road to get "just" a CP4 job vs a full replacement. Now, if I keep the truck past 100k and the repairs become my problem... you're damn right I'm putting one on!

I want to rescind my comment after watching S&S’s recent video where they purposely failed their CP4 on a 2016 and drove it to UCC. My previous comment/thought assumed that when the CP4 failed even with the S&S DPK you would be stranded from failure. It appears that is not the case and the CP4 can continue to run even while severely damaged, as long as you have the DPK filtering. I now see value in installing my DPK even though I’m under warranty because limping it somewhere safe vs stopping dead is a big difference.

Would you recommend I install this on my 2021? I change my filters every other oil change without fail. My oil changes are every 3K miles, so my fuel filters every 6K miles. I use additives with every tank of fuel. My truck has just over 10K miles on it right now.

Bro, I think CP4 is Over Exaggerated! There are Millions of 6.7’s on the road with No issues at all Obviously Any part can Fail after enough hours of Use. I replaced my CP4 after watching all these videos on my 2014 F-450 with 200k miles. I also Sent my injectors my CP4 to local testing company called “Becks” here in Los Angeles. One of my injectors failed the test but they said that my CP4 passed. Given this is all preventative maintenance. At this point I replaced CP4, ALL Injectors, both of the rails and all the lines to injectors. I also installed newest S&S kit. Bro I think this CP4 is over exaggerated. Making guys like me nervous about a good CP4 When I reached 200k I thought my CP4 will explode 😂. Nothing happened I have test results of CP4 by a diesel testing lab. Truck now has all these new parts which it didn’t really need…. Lol

I hear ya, and you’re right… some never have a problem. Those that do spend over $10k for replacement of the fuel system. This is cheap insurance. The people that have had to deal with this would say the CP4 implosion is not over-exaggerated. Except for my neighbor… you would think an atomic bomb went off in his truck. He also apparently fainted, the dramatic little b!+(h.

CP four is a shrapnel grenade don’t have that problem with the old V pump on my 91.5 although I will say one thing with these new Injection systems if you can get them working Reiten stuff like that I highly highly recommend an Exter lubricant in your fuel to help lubricators injectors and your pump and all that stuff but anyhow I’ve been seeing a guy was saying that he had his internals coded with diamond like coatings on his CP three pump I think that be the way to go this is six in a row jim This is a Jim mungai from Kennerdell Pennsylvania

The CP4 really isn't the problem. It's our shit diesel fuel. Cp4 failures don't happen anywhere near as much in Europe as they do here. Working at roush and I never seen a cp4 fail while it was running "cert fuel".

Well arrrrgh I think cp4 is possibly failing...driving freeway, filter clean cycle on, had to pass a car and power went wonky/ inconsistent. Got off ramp and she has very little power kinda like limp mode. Looking for vids of real world symptoms A'rod point me in right direction? Been doing Oil every 5K, fuel filter changes every 10K and running Stanadyne additive...am nauseated if this is a 10K+ repair...should I drop the water separator and look for shavings?

In the same breathe i dont know how important that would be since some debri would be not visible to the eye. I guess my big concern with this kit is exactly how much is it doing. Conceptually its great. I think they have some smart guys at S&S and i dont want to downplay or trash talk their products. My major concern ill put in a seperate comment.

Or does some make it by their filter and into the system anyways? What size contaminent is the max the fuel system can take without needing replacement?

You should check out S&S video they did purposely failing their HPFP with the kit in it & drove it catching all debris. Was pretty good.

Get the kit. My CP4 blew at 124K $11000 to fix and had to wait weeks for the ford factory parts. $400 is cheep insurance. I used reputable fuel and changed filters religiously at 10k. I did not use an additive. I use fords diesel additive now with every tank. I also installed the Fass assist. I highly recommend. It removes even more dirt air and “99%” of the water. Truck ran smoother immediately after the install.

I did it myself and I'm a shadetree mechanic. My biggest recommendation is wear gloves because the plastic cowl will cut the s*** out of your hands!

Given the history of failed CP4's why is this kit not installed by Ford? Why does Ford continue to use a high pressure pump that is known to fail. GM stepped away from the CP4 in 2017 for a Denso HP4 which is a different design and does not fail. RAM tried the CP4 in 2019 and now is recalling them due to failure. If Ford does not care then why buy one?

Looking at new diesel pickups. So far Ford and the 6.7 liter Powerstroke are leading the pack. Would it be beneficial to add an Air Dogg Filter system to the truck right when I got it? And, will it affect my warranty?

Hey buddy I could really use your advice I have 2 f550 7.3 powerstrokes cab and chassis one dump body Another hooklift dumpster truck so do haul heavy but the 7.3 powerstroke seems to do the job just fine. I would like to buy a new truck soon and have been very worried about getting a new diesel because of the repair costs so was considering buying 7.3 gas f550. How would that compare to what I have now and would you recommend it in this situation

For the new trucks under warranty, will adding this kit cause any warranty issues? I can see a dealer seeing this kit and using it as leverage for not fixing an issue under warranty.

The short answer is no it won't affect your warranty. Ford/dealer must prove the disaster prevention kit cause the failure. This would be impossible as all your adding is a filter and adapter block. If your under warranty and the pump fails under warranty your getting a complete system anyways. Just due to the way warranty works. Well I should correct myself if the failure was warrantable in the first place. This meaning there was no rush, water, gas, def, or other contamination on the vcv or in the filters. Pulling the PCV is no longer needed per the fuel system GSB

Installed a disaster kit on a 6.7 last week and now in power levels 4 and 5 it throws a reduced engine power code for low rail pressure. Any ideas?

@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod it’s the spe kit. Ordered a while ago before the S&s kits were in stock. All kits are the same principle though so I figured you might have some ideas for this fuel pressure drop. Truck is running a fass 220 so lift pump pressure is not an issue

@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod I’d love a comparison video showing what makes the S&s such a superior product. To the consumer it looks just like any other kit. Fuel line splitter with a fca spacer to feed both ends of the cp4. Return filter to catch rerouted debris. Some kits actually come with AN lines which many people prefer over push connects 🧐
