@@RL-ww5ev if you have an in house watchmaker doing your service you’re not paying per service you have them on salary. A strap for a watch supposedly worth 1800 is not 1700 dollars (the difference in the market price and the offer price). I can do simple math.

Love how they're using an extreme case to dispute how they lowball collectors. I've also tried selling a like new complete modern VC overseas to them, they offered me the lowest price from any other dealer I reached out to, like 4.5k less than my next worst offer. Stopped wasting my time reaching out to LB to offer anything ever again. What they also don't realize is that by lowballing collectors they alienate us from ever wanting to buy from them too. My experience was not with Alex though, who seems to at least make some educational communication effort with the customer. The previous dude who was handling buying never bothered answering anything.

So you bought a dj for 2000, then paid 750 for service and lets put the costs up to 3000 with shipping etc. Then you list it for 4 995. Its almost 40% margin or 65% mark up however you want to call it. You have high margins while you cry you dont make any money on rolexes

He said after negotiations, they will sell for about 4,000. Their list price is not the final price. This is a very typical margin for watch dealers, if you don’t like it, sell it yourself. People have no idea how the watch market works, but yet everyone is an expert on social media.

Its is actually worse than that...the watch will not be serviced to the tune of $750. Why would it need service for such a high price if it is working correctly??? They can see if it can be set correctly and if its in working order when they get it. Why would it need a service after that??? It won't even be opened up to make sure its authentic because that is a problem they can fix later if it ever was the case especially with something so cheap that costs $1800 for them. They will also not change the strap unless it absolutely needs changing. Those are just points they use to lowball offers coming in so that they can make maximum profits on the resale. Alex said they change all straps on used watches but I do not believe that one bit. A client could have owned a watch for years and worn it a handful of times. Does that mean they will change the strap just because it is preowned??? Yeah right.
