1) Katie is such a cutie, and it is so lovely to see the friendship you two have🤗 2) Yes, do a video on different lamps! I have a good one _now_ , however when I researched which lamp to get - wowzahhh, so many types and prices, I had a very cofusing time finding which one to get that was great, but didn't break the bank! UV-lamps, LED-lamps, UV/LED lamp combos and different strengths of watts which cured different products at different stages 3) Also - show & tell! You know, how many lamps does Suzy have hidden in the back of her closet, that cameraman may, or may not know about😂

The two of you are such a joy to watch! I was told that hard gel is better than acrylic if you are a nurse or bartender who has their hands always in water. Is that correct Suzie? I have learned so much from your excellent teaching skills , info and designs. Thanks for the tip on opening up the jar of gel product. Once again you always have great hacks. Hope to see more of you both and give us some bling nails for Christmas please. Thanks also Cameraman for all you talents too!

We just finished our Christmas bling video It’s not true about having Gel over Acrylic if hands are in water. I had many clients who were nurses/ professional cleaners and no issues with constant water- if the ‘fake’ nail is adhered properly water is never an issue

Most of the nail techs in my area use gel exclusively because of the ease. With new people moving in they are having a hard time finding someone lie me that can also offer acrylic. (Love Celina's work!!)
@quirkyviper2 жыл бұрын
That's interesting! My area is exactly the opposite. It's like no one knows what hard gel is. I think it's really because they've optimized salons to let techs work on other clients during soak offs of acrylic but you can't do that with hard gel.
@NailCareerEducation2 жыл бұрын
Yes. It really does depend on your area. I find Gel is more popular because it is quite a bit easier to learn. And this is the explosion of hybrid gel ( Polygel ) and of course the newest explosion with the full cover tips. But each of these nails are getting further and further away from the custom built nail built from a form. And that’s fine, but if you still like that natural custom fit, then there’s nothing like acrylic or hard gel or even hybrid Gel built on a form designed to fit your nails specifically.

I'm still real new to all this, and I love watching students doing gels for the first time because it gives me confidence to try. 🥰Thanks for all your tips!!! (Tips pun intended; you're welcome!)
@NailCareerEducation2 жыл бұрын
Yes, like any nail the Apex is crucial to its longevity. But Gel is easy to lose it because it’s self levels so incredibly well. I’m sorry you’re going through so much with chemotherapy. That’s so hard. Keep your spirits up and be creative with Nails is a wonderful distraction. ❤️🎄❄️
@Sarappreciates2 жыл бұрын
@@NailCareerEducation Oh! Yes! Nails are a good way to distract because it requires so much mental focus, and who among us isn't easily distracted by shiny objects? As for gel, I had a nail break a few days after I did my prettiest manicure yet, and I couldn't figure out why. Now I know: Apex. I think it actually broke where the apex shoulda been. In fact, it exposed my nail underneath! It totally makes more sense now, so I know I need to build it better during my next manicure. Polygels ain't cheap, so I hate wasting product. Nevertheless, I have pics from before I started doing my nails with your tutorials. Chemo nails aren't pretty, deep ridges, Beau's lines, sandpaper-rough, paper thin, cracking, chipping, peeling down the center! Just awful! Your tutorials have helped literally keep my nails from falling apart. I know it sounds dramatic, but it's TRUE! My nails look so much better even between manicures now... It's unreal! I can't ever *thank you* enough.

I love the videos with Katie! I have a question - why when using gel polish you are always told to keep the coats super thin in order to ensure proper curing, but builder gel can go on so thick?
@NailCareerEducation2 жыл бұрын
Great question. The reason is because builder gels are generally clear or a very light color. If it has any color, it’s specifically designed to cure all the way through while being applied thick. But gel polish is incredibly pigmented so it has a very strong colour at a very thin layer. Because of that pigment it’s harder to Cure all the way through. So it is designed to cure when it is applied thin. When you apply it to thick and try to cure , it sometimes will not cure properly / resulting in peeling wrinkling, lifting, etc..
