As someone who literally just started using gel polish, this video couldn't have come at a better time lol I just did an easter mani with builder gel as my overlay on my natural nails and I had the shape somewhat okay but they were nice and smooth, now they look a little thick and lumpy, I now realize I went too heavy with my first coat, I happen to have a gel brush so I think ill also give that a try next time! Thank you for sharing! Happy Easter 💜

For those of you new to using a drill be sure to file lightly and keep the bit parallel to the nail. Otherwise you may carve into the natural nail. It doesn't take much.

I have had issues in the past with the gel polish being too thick. The problem was the gel polish. It would get old or too thick in the bottle and hands down the best method I found for fixing this was simply soaking the bottle in hot water. I take water out of my coffee pot and just soak the bottom portion in the water for a minute. It returned to being nice and thin and applied amazingly well.

Honestly Top Coat is not a builder layer/ it’s simple to seal in and create shine If your top coat is flowing like that / it’s too thick
@DE-qy9om
@DE-qy9om 2 жыл бұрын
@@NailCareerEducation a top coat can be used for leveling. Yes, it’s not a builder layer and doesn’t add much structural support especially on longer nails. However, when doing nail art design such as adding lines/decals/paintings/etc or even with minor imperfections in regular color layer, a top coat can be used to level and smooth out the final surface. Having said that, one should be mindful of the overall thickness of the finished nail. If done right, the builder layer would be adequate for support, but the nail won’t be bulky even with all finishing/leveling layers.

Since this vid is about polish I MUST comment, why don't people go more for Nail "Dress"? I'm going specifically for KISS NAIL DRESS, stick on "polish". Those things are OUTRAGEOUS!! Cmon, two weeks of showering, shampoo, washing dishes and not a glitch??! Living by myself I do all the work and those things stayed on for more than two weeks with no fading, peeling, chipping AND all the water my digits are in ? The feet - they just stayed on until I took them off. There's no sticky left on the nail, they press on in a snap. They go over any manicure. Other than nail salons don't want to know this, I don't know why they're not more popular. Our local Walgreens, Rite-Aid, etc., stopped selling them! Seriously, perhaps a vid can be done on them. Those things are AWESOME!! Thanks for all your vids and the time and detail you put in! I LOVE my nails and you so always keep the groove going 💅🏼

Thank you for showing wrapping the tips for non-square nails! Most other nail videos I watch have square nails so their wrapping techniques don't really apply since my "tip" goes all the way around without a sharp edge, so it was always like, should I? Where should I stop? Etc. Thick nails are a huge pain for me since my nails are so thin to start with, I super appreciate your videos!

This is great information that's come out just in time for me. It's been a while since I've done my nails and I've been thinking about what kind of spring design I want to do. I've had problems with my nails looking thick and since it can be a while between sets, I thought maybe it was that my polish was old or something. The thing is, the polish isn't lumpy or sticky. I think you've solved my problem! Thanks! P.S. Do you have any plans to review the cream/solid gel polishes that seem to be catching on? Thanks again!

Another way to do thinner gel is if you know what color gel you are going to be using use an acrylic base that color. Like if you are doing a blue, do a blue acrylic under it. Or if you are doing a gel nail, mix the gel polish color into the builder gel. This way you need fewer layers to build the color.
