Thanks Mark! I learned these lessons in mid-life. However, I'm teaching my children 9 & 14 to save and invest in stocks. In my 20's I fell for all the traps Credit Cards, Student Loans, going out to bars and living paycheck to paycheck. When my Dad retired, ran out of money, and had to go back to work. This is what happens when you have no income, and buy a brand new Harley to 'Save money on gas'. When my dad died, he left my mom, a homemaker, $70,000 in debt. I vowed never to do this to my family. It wasn't until I started investing in my 401k and seeing it grow, that I got serious about investing. I studied the best, changed my mindset and habits. Now, I'm on my way to financial freedom. I also started a side business to add to my income. I pass my knowledge on to my children. Merry Christmas!

I think one other thing to note that is of importance - specific knowledge. The education system teaches you general knowledge, to become wealthy you need to provide value in your field/ community which is done through having specific knowledge in said field.

I live in the uk too and would love to do the same but find that best cc deals are usually for US.
