It’s intimidating to see large companies dominate the market and cause awesome shops to make the tough decision to close. Thank you for encouraging small shops like mine to stay small amidst the pressure to do more to compete. Your honesty & genuineness is so refreshing

It's SO hard to compete against the big players. I commend any one out there grinding through running a plant shop, it's so damn hard to do. But it's such rewarding work to do! Keep at it, and thank you for watching the vids!!

As a small collector/seller I am finding breeding and selling anthurium germinated seeds as really awesome selling option. Very simple to ship, and you can price them fairly. Once you get the pollination down you can get quite large quantities of seeds!!

Might be a hot take but the moment something gets trendy I run. The moment you get dependent on one trend you’re exposed to the bubble. Back in the day I had people trying to haggle over $7.50 on a 4.5” albo. We had a 100’ row of them on totems in 2000 and mainly used them for cut greens. Smalls and bread and butter items are what floats the boat
@romanantonioviray164316 күн бұрын
most buyers now (in our country), are very finicky. they haggle, buys plants for a very low price, chooses the cheapest shipping, and then expects them to arrive in pristine conditions, complains, asks for refund etc... you earned so little but the stress dealing with them is not worth it...

Not because I don’t want to, I just can’t seem to get out of being broke. 🤣 Miss watching you guys and hope you’re having a wonderful time in Spain! How great for you both and your babies 😊

I live and work in tech in Cali and employment laws are a nightmare. One thing I do not understand and Kaylee Ellen said the same about shipping costs. Do you not pass on those costs to the customer? I feel like I pay a fortune in shipping every time I order plants. Thanks for keeping your awesome videos going. ❤
@prettyingreen13 күн бұрын
Yup, any order over $49 we would pay shipping costs (maybe a mistake in hindsight?) -- under $49 shipping cost would be $4 or $8, which semi subsidizes our cost. In an amazon prime world, getting consumers to convert at checkout when having a large shipping charge is very challenging.. Thank you for the support and watching the videos!!

isn´t best to have greenhouse in a area where is it humid and warm like Florida? You mentioned that one of the biggest cost is the shipping.... but isn´t the costumer that pays for the stuff shipped to their address?

businesses moving their operations out of California because CA is forcing them to not treat their employee like 💩is sad. I'd rather other states stop treating their employees like 💩 so that every state is on equal footing. Or if the federal government would, I don't know, raise minimum wage so that people are not working 2 jobs and still homeless. End of rant.

My biggest issue is people saying their plants arrived "unalive". I shipped an Alocasia Venom and the buyer said it wasn't alive upon receipt. It looked salvageable to me. Although I issued a refund, I'm sure they kept it and cormed it out!
@Aweirdmushroom9615 күн бұрын
Receiving a plant that is ‘salvageable’ is terrible service
@Worldtraveler808015 күн бұрын
@Aweirdmushroom96 You can't have it both ways, especially when I ship for free. Either return my merchandise for a full refund and I can salvage it myself. Or get a partial/no refund depending on the circumstances!

@ElmerBaez-f5m16 күн бұрын
@markandrewjavier Tissue culture is less expensive. However, you buy a cultured plant and relieve a penny size seedling. It's a rip off. I will never buy a tissue cultured plant. It's a mutant.
@markandrewjavier16 күн бұрын
@@ElmerBaez-f5m hey thank you for sharing, this is very insightful. I’m just curious, do you think it would still be a ripoff for the consumer if it was reasonably priced? Just trying to understand your perspective. Thanks for your time.

Common Californian L Just admit the state is straight terrible. Why do you have to be goofy and mention human rights like California is the pinnacle of that despite having rampant homeless problems and horrible taxation penalties on anyone that wants to actually work? Please for the love of god do not try to bring your California moral superiority to wherever you escaped to, leave it behind where it belongs and appreciate the refuge granted to you by that new location.
