Hi, this is a fantastic video! Exactly the kind of education aspiring collectors need. Quick question about watch number four. Aside from the bezel the two examples you showed have different kinds of hands. The first one had Dauphine hands, and the second (I want a good condition), had a different kind of hands. Were they offered with two different types of handsets or were you just showing an example of a similar case? The other question is regarding the hour hand on the first of those 2 (still watch #4). It looks like it may be broken in the middle and was just filled with lume to cover up the imperfection. Is that the case?
@TimelessHistoryChannel4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Well, to understand about hands type, you'll need to know what model is the watch and what kind of dial variation is it. In this case, this is a 14389 case model which was first introduced in the late 50s and lasted to around 1962. When you see this model with dauphin hands, you can pretty much say it is one from 1958 to possibly 1960. And when you see it is with Alpha type hands like on the second one, then it is most likely from 1960 to 1962. That said, it is not 100% that dauphin will not exist on a 1961-1962 model. To answer your question, yes, both hand variations are correct for this case model. Your second question, the hand is not broken. The line going down the middle is a luminous line. And the other line that I can see on the upper right is most likely a scratch on the hand or coincidentally on the crystal just above where the hand is positioned.

Where is a solid reference catalog of all models to use as we compare to originals??
@TimelessHistoryChannel4 жыл бұрын
Don't think there is such a catalog for that since there are too many dial variations per model. There is a book called "journey through time" that will show many many vintage Omega model. It is hard to obtain this book though.

Oen the last "correct" one with the damage; shouldn't the minute hand be the same length as the minute track?
@TimelessHistoryChannel3 күн бұрын
If it was an automatic watch, then the minute hand must follow the minute track. But this is a manual wind watch. So it is correct for the minute hand to go over the track.

Interesting. So if you want to replace an incorrect crown with a genuine Omega Seamaster crown how do you go about doing this without going through an Omega agent?
@TimelessHistoryChannel4 жыл бұрын
If you do not have the knowledge, you'll need to find a reference guide or chart that can allow you to cross reference which crown goes for which case model. You can always go onto this website and search for the correct crown as well: www.ofrei.com

@@TimelessHistoryChannel Thanks for the link to Otto Frei, how do I find out what my case number is? I have a 1965 gold plated Geneve Seamaster automatic, calibre 552, inside the case back it says 165.002 is that the case number?
