DIO is one the most talented Vocalist and Song Writers Ever. Between Rainbow, Black Sabbath and his Solo Career, you could do a Month of DIO and still have plenty of music to sift though.

Best metal singer ever. I miss him so much... Another beautiful soul that left us too early. Dio was the one who started using the horns sign as a metal music symbol. It came from his Sicilian grandma who used it as a way of avoiding a curse.

Okay. This video starts out with a former child actor that used to be on a time travel show that I loved as a kid called Voyagers. He's a bike courier. He gets directed to go into a building by the keyboardist from Dio, Claude Schnell. He gets in the elevator and it takes him down to a demonic world. Upon the elevator opening he is pulled into an evil realm where there are Borg like creatures that only give you a chance to comply. Resistance is futile like the youth that are being indoctrinated in the schools of today. Now that's the video. The song itself has a different meaning according to Mr. R.J.D. The song is about people that maybe didn't get picked to make the sports team or didn't get asked to the dance or didn't get that promotion at work. We're the "Last in Line". It's okay though though. We're still just as good as everyone else. "See how we shine. We're the last in line".

You should check out his work with Rainbow and Sabbath, besides his solo stuff. Stargazer is a killer track from Rainbow, and Heaven and Hell from Sabbath. Falling Off the Edge of the World is a great underrated song from Sabbath’s Dio era.

The album that this song is on is my favorite from him, but Holy Diver has some good songs on it too. I think the point of this song is to question the things that you've been told are good or evil; true or false. You have to form your own opinion of this; find out for yourself. Dont rely on second hand knowlegde and what you are told by others. But the only way you can do this is to challenge and question everything and give up safety and comfort and easy living. To me, the lyrics refer to words from the Bible, Matthew 19:30, in which Jesus said, "But many that are first will be last, and the last first." Last on earth, maybe, but first in Heaven if you believe. One may be persecuted and ridiculed for being a Christian on earth, but remaining faithful will matter more in the afterlife. You hear Ronnie repeat "we're the last in," then end with "we're the first in line." My guess is it's Ronnie's way of saying, don't worry, you'll get all the good without the bad in Heaven, if you are so worthy. Living humbly, but faithfully, now will pay off later.
