Omigosh it worked! I used Wilton brand violet (available at Bulk Barn in Canada) , will match with my super white cake this weekend..thanks again!

Wow u r a genius!!! That's exactly the same thing with hair color too!! You have to use "silver shampoo" which has violet base sometimes navy blue, to cut the brassiness of the yellow color!!! Thanxx

Hi Everyone, thanks so much for watching, I use Sugarflair Grape/Violet to cut the yellow so you can use REAL butter in your buttercream. Enjoy :) x

Do you find that even this lovely 'violet' white buttercream, will start to yellow after working with it and putting it in the fridge

Hi have you tried the sugarflair extra white? And did it work?
@kotsbrown9 жыл бұрын
lulu2224 Hi lulu. Yes, I have tried the extra white but I found it makes the icing really chalky looking and I just don't like it. Not convinced it made a huge difference anyway.

great tip Raewyn -thank you for showing how little you need! if i then wanted to make that white, for example pink, does it make a colour that is purple.influenced or is it like starting with white? sorry for the daft question but woukd not want 'muddy' colours etc! many thanks!
@RaewynRead10 жыл бұрын
Hi Jan, thanks so much! Yes, this gives you a perfect white base to build all your other colours from. Especially great for doing pastels...they will be true to colour not a yellow based version. Thanks for watching :)

that makes sense (and this is a weird story but hear me out). I wear blue-tinted lenses due to epilepsy. When I take off my glasses, the world appears very vintage, kind of a yellow color, because of the exhaustion of the cones in my eyes.

It is hard to achieve desired colors when the base is yellowish due to the butter. I wonder if it would be easier to color if I do this first to my buttercream. Goal is to make it white first then add color of choice. Has anybody tried doing that?

Why not just use a russian/american buttercream. It comes out white. It's both sweetened condensed milk and 10x sugar with the butter. Its not overly sweet either.
@MajesticFlower10 жыл бұрын
Can't you just you white food color?
@RaewynRead10 жыл бұрын
You can Kathryn but I have used all the brands on the market and I find you have to use a lot without getting as good a result as the tiny speck of the violet so it's costing you much more to use the whiteners PLUS you get a change in taste and a lot of them have a rather unpleasant after taste. So the Sugarflair is a REALLY cheap, fast and tasty option :)
