The San Martin is indeed double the price !! I have the black and the "Hulk" versions. They are both lovely watches, but to be honest, I don't think, after seeing this review that they were worth double the dosh. Great review, as always !!

I'm definitely a Molly fan! Could this watch be identical to a San Martin or in other words, a San Martin with a different logo? I have to say, I like this one.

I am really surprised at how good this one is given that I am not a fan of the og....sigh!....shock horror. I had a chance to wear a mates Rolex a while back and it just didn't suit my puny wrists. I do like earlier versions though with those slimmer proportions such as the Sea Dweller 1665 :)

Well I bought one based on your review and I can say I really like it. I was a little hesitant to buy from the Wacthdives website so I got it from Amazon and they had a $15 coupon and it was delivered in 2 days. Overall the watch looks great but the pin and collar on the bracelet is a real pain. I had issues with resizing the bracelet and I have a set of watch tools which normally makes resizing a breeze. It wears well on my 6 3/4” wrist so I highly recommend. The bezel on this watch is outstanding for the price point. I have another watch of similar specifications and the bezel is the big difference. I am a huge fan of the Seiko movements so the NH35 is great. The brushing is also very good. Don’t expect a Rolex just a very nice good looking reliable watch at a great price. Another great review. I was impressed with everything about this watch until I saw the dreaded words 'pin and collar' on the bracelet description. I have had rather bad luck with those and as a rule and now avoid bracelets with that sizing type.

Hi Albert. It does wear well even on me! Poor Molly doesn't know what's going on...we have moved so much clutter around to get this room done but I have managed a complete refurb....even new carpets going in on Thursday...Phew!

Hi John definitely looks a nice watch. Perhaps not worth shelling out another £30-£40 on the San Martin version, however if you can get a Steeldive SD1953 for under £40 I think bracelet aside you’re not getting double the watch from Watchdives quality wise 👍

Another great review and a great value watch 👍. However, why do these companies homage the ugliest version of the Sub? It all went horribly wrong when they bought out that wide lug version of the case, it looks ridiculous compared to the width of the strap, and the newer version went to 21mm lugs to try and reduce the effect, doh! Don't blame your wrist John, the case lugs have no turn down at all, if anyone other than Rolex had designed the original people would call it out for the poor design it is.

John: nice review of a good looking watch. This is off topic, but the thought hit while watching this. I recently bought a Tandorio watch that you reviewed. Do you know if Tandorio regulates the NH35 movement at the factory? Or, does Seiko regulate the movement when it is made? Cheers

Usually the factory putting the watch together checks the movements to make sure everything is to spec.

My biggest issue is w/the illusion-crushing AR coating, the watch wears well and is definitely as good or better than the rest of it’s class,I’d like to see how it compares to the Seestern ,Cronos,San Martin, and Iron Watch sub homages

Unfortunately I would not be able to compare as I don't own any sub homages. They don't usually fit me well but I have reviewed 3 or 4 over the last 18 months or so. Pound for pound (or dollar for dollar) this really stacks up well :)

Great review . How easy is the pin and collar link removal. Seikos ive had have beem awful ..is this easy?

I've never had an issue. Push most of the way out from one side until you get resistance then use pliers to pull free, making sure that the collar stays in sight and in a tray. Simple really.

What’s your suggestion for a Tudor snowflake sub homage? Like a 1989 without date or cyclops. Square indices, snowflake hands. Thin lug case, gear mesh bezel, crown guards. Baltany retro comes close but I don’t want fake patina

I really like this watch. Are the edges sharp? How does it compare to SM sn017 and SM sn019? I wish they would make a no-date version of this. The only nondate version I found is the Cronos l6005 for $250. ❤

As I said in the video. No sharp edges. Very refined. I have not handled the San Martin versions so I cannot comment but have handled a few others.

An interesting review, IIRC 'Watchdives' sell both Addiesdives and Steeldive watches, which also offer similarly styled watches? So, I'm wondering are they really that different, do they come out of the same factory and is like choosing between a Skoda/VW/Audi or Dacia/Renault/Nissan, that are all based on the same 'platform/mechanical components'? Anyway, keep up the great reviews, perhaps Molly should be in charge of the 'Cupboard of Doom' as she a nocturnal animal?!

The Steeldive 1953 I have is just as good a watch as that Watchdives and cheaper too! The SD 1953 has a better designed and more attractive case back plus an extra 100m WR over the WD to boot!

I had the SD1953 and as I said I found it top heavy. The bracelet and clasp were useless and this bezel action is far superior in my opinion.

That's unfortunate, but with homage watches poor QC at times is a risk we have to take. The bezel on mine is the best of all the dive watch, homage watches I have. @@johnswatchjoint
