By far the best variation of a "zombie" story production I've seen yet, compressed into a 15 min short. Remarkably well done, glad the ending came out as it did, certainly among the best selections that DUST has presented so far (and I've seen quite a few of them).

The only thing left to do is to join my voice to the many, many others who ran the gauntlet of emotions and responsibilities and consequences presented by this beautifully executed film. Congratulations, I think you're on your way to a bright, creative future.

Well done by everyone involved, showing the fear, heartache, and desperation that's involved in trying to keep the infection from spreading. Had to be draining on everyone, to have such a level of emotions throughout the filming to make it all seem real.

Perhaps because I am old (boy howdy am I old), I don't want to edit this, extend it, or tell anyone involved in it what they should do next. I simply took it in, twice, once for the story and once for the art. Enjoyed it immensely, just as it is, as the writer/director, videographer, actors and soundtrack composer (and all the people leaning in HARD, right behind them) came together to create it. It is a gem, all on its own. If it leads to something more, that's wonderful. But I remember Night Gallery, and The Outer Limits, and the Twilight Zone, and the full length films "The Martian Chronicles" and "The Illustrated Man". They were all wonderful anthologies; every tale told was perfect exactly as it was. I grew up on science fiction short stories. I remember. Sometimes, perfect is good enough ;-). This is every bit as good as Serling's adaptation of Lovecraft's short story "Cool Air", which, for me, has never been surpassed. This. Is. A. Treasure.

I'm a huge fan of everything you are listing here; thanks so much for the kind words. Night Gallery, Outer Limits, and TZ formed my childhood, and I wonder if you and I might be the only folks on KZbin who remember the TV movie of Martian Chronicles - the crystal mask and the platonic-shape stones of mars are burned into my mind forever :) So glad you enjoyed the short!

@thetalkingshrimp56832 жыл бұрын
Well done, you set a background for this film: An existing set of protocols, encapsulated apartments, action plans when infection is triggered, an over zealous G-man, an agent who wanted to save on to the little humanity he had left, all in a few minutes, but I'm sure this has been in your head (and heart) for much longer than that.

Bloody brilliant! Such a refreshing take on the zombie genre, I honestly don't think I blinked whilst watching this fabulous short. The script was extremely well written, with enough hooks to keep me on the edge of my seat and the fantastic cinematography, added a gritty realness many Hollywood blockbusters fail to capture. The acting by the main character was especially inspired, managing to effortlessly portray a character struggling to hold on to his humanity in a post apocalyptic society. I would genuinely love to see this short developed into a feature length film! 🤩

Congratulations, I'm still in shock. Unique terror sci-fi piece here, very unique. Huge job. It has not been the first time that it has happened, the futuristic security devices, the alarms connected by routers, the self-locking of homes, the organization, identification and discarding of buildings due to risk and the coordinated response of the authorities are, from my point of view, security protocols on known events. The virus has all the earmarks of being a laboratory virus, surely weapons. The role of Coroner Rossman and deciding who lives and who doesn't, frankly difficult and hard. Security in the private sphere decided by the public administration.

The pickup after the fact is a constant theme in many modern Hollywierd stories. Knowing the back story as flashbacks in a series along with contextual storylines will help. fire lock safe like apartments, the legislation needed, the creation of the different services, the social impacts, all such angles would lead to a hell of a series and one that I would watch with signs of hope over total end of the world situation.

It's not so much the story that's exceptional, but the way it's done, the camera work. The drama and emotionality is maximally condensed, just so that one can still bear it without burning out. Of course, a long movie could not be made like this all the time, no viewer could stand it. So here's a short, punchy trip with a long reverberation.
