"You're a doofus" is the EXACT level of anger combined with a burn that is appropriate for Beatdown and I applaud Drew for judging the vibe of the show so correctly.

Right?? His picks are genuinely embarrassing to admit to watching. Get out of here with The Amazing Race and The Great British Baking Show - neither of which are shows that people regularly dunk on. Shane busts out Slow TV and Today and gets relentlessly mocked. Justifiably so. Therefore, he’s the defacto winner of this beat down.

Shane gets so much shit but he provides variety. Ryan and Drew just provided all reality tv shows which we all know are all guilty pleasures anyway. Shane threw in a sitcom, a train show (which I have seen similar videos on KZbin), and a news show. Shane's choices are more relatable for me because I don't watch reality tv but am ashamed of how much sitcom tv I watch.

In Shane’s defense, Slow Tv sounds and looks like a calming scenery to play in the background while you’re doing your chores or catching up on work that you out off for two weeks, or something like that, so I can get behind it. You guys should have seen the clips they edited in. Also, Southern Charm is like The Real Housewives of southern families- complete mindless tv, which we all need sometimes. Furthermore, oatmeal is a hot cereal if you were alive before 2000. Now they just call it oatmeal and it’s like it’s own category. However, Shane’s list does scream grandpa zone, but I’m kinda here for it. 🤷‍♀️

So slow TV comes from Norway and it really was like an event when it started. It was made by our national broadcaster NRK. The train ride Shane is referencing is the Bergensbane, which is a train ride from Oslo to Bergen, and it's beatifull. I remember it being on our TV all day long and you would just check in once in a while. They also did Hurtigruta, which is a boatride that goes all along the coast up north past the fjords and into the arctic, it's beautifull. Was on the tv for days. Slow TV has become part of the NRK syle where at christmas they just show a Ribbe (National christmas food thing) cooking in the oven, and during summer they either take a boat along the coast, stopping by coastal villagers and talking to people, or drive around in a van around the country stopping in random villages and talking to people. Showing the drives live We have a beautiful country, and we like looking at it.

Nature is basically the only thing I like about living in the USA (so much variety, all beautiful in different ways!), and I have long envied Norway and various other countries for their beautiful nature as well. YES! It always cracks me up to see Americans, especially from like middle America, so confused that they can't buy a mansion in France for 200k. Plus (and they do this on regular HH but it seems like more on international) they show lots of apartments and different living situations which is cool so you're not just looking at the same few styles of house over and over.

A girl from Terrace House (Hana Kimura) literally got bullied so much after an episode aired where people thought she was "mean" that she killed herself. She was told to get angry at another guy in the house for washing her wrestling outfit so she did what she was told and people were so awful to her on social media.

Ok, one thing I will say about the Today show - my cousin Evan has always been a big Al Roker fan (not quite sure why, but hey, everyone has different interests lol), and his wish through Make A Wish was to meet the Today show crew, and honestly they were great to him - my cousin got to do the weather forecast with Al, his family got to take part in the Times Square segments, the hosts spent basically the whole day with them, even after the show was done shooting and they probably had other things they needed to do, gave them a tour of the studios and offices, Al Roker specifically spent a lot of time with Evan and went out of his way to make the experience memorable. There were other things I don't remember since this was YEARS ago, but I know he and my aunt and cousins had nothing but great things to say about the whole day. And I know being nice to a sick kid through Make A Wish is kind of a low bar lol, but I've sadly heard of kids who haven't had great experiences with other celebrities through Make A Wish so it's evidently a bar not everyone can reach. So while I'm not really interested in the Today Show myself, I'll always appreciate that they - Al Roker especially - were so kind and made it such a memorable experience for my cousin.

My introduction to them was sitting in the waiting room dehydrated and miserable before my hemorrhoidectomy surgery. It feels like watching two friends at brunch. The cereal discussion came back briefly so I just have to say, Oatmeal is literally one of the original cereals and why breakfast cereal is even called that.
