A. Lange & Söhne: for me the equivalent of Lamborghini, Ferrari, Pagani, and Aston Martin all rolled into one among watchmakers. The ultimate dream watches with supreme sophistication and beauty, nothing tasteless and no expense spared. Thank you Watchfinder & Co. for these superb videos, they both inspire, delight, and to an extent frustrate in that like the aforementioned supercars I can't afford an A. Lange & Söhne!
@drunkenmasterii32502 жыл бұрын
The kerning on made in germany is horrible on this watch, the lines of all the circles are crossing randomly at different angles making lines merge and it’s really unaesthetic. Also the map is isn’t well scaled and doesn’t make much sense the way it’s presented. As far as A Lange & Sohne go this is not good.

Amazing video and great knowledge. You and I love Lange. But I would love to see them vs, the top 3. In a ‘who’s the best’ face off. AP , VC and PP I really feel might struggle. You would have to choose their most sold model as opposed to the ones they each put on a pedestal.

I am very curious about where you got the idea we would lose the moon? The outward drift is caused by an exchange of angular momentum caused by the tides. As the moon moves away the tides get weaker and so the drift slows down. Eventually the moon will reach a point where it is locked to the earth with it's orbit being one day (which will be about 47 days at that point) and the moon will appear stationary in the sky. At this point the drift will stop. Although this will be after the sun enters the red giant phase so that could change everything if it expands to engulf the earth. I have not seen any theories where the moon escapes the earth and can't think of a mechanism which would allow that
@sushimshah28963 жыл бұрын
While I agree that theoretically the Moon won't escape it's orbit, it's still basically predicting the future & you can't always count on it.

An eloquent description of our relationship with the moon. In yogic sciences, the phase of the moon is believed to have an impact on our life forces, however subtle that it may be. We need to hone the sensitivity our perceptions to such a fine degree to appreciate it. A.Lange & Söhne here is for sure depicting this cycle at a very fine level mechanical possible on a gadget of this dimensions. For sure a commendable piece of engineering.

Interesting presentation! Per www.stardate.org ... "The Moon has phases because it orbits Earth, which causes the portion we see illuminated to change. The Moon takes 27.3 days to orbit Earth, but the lunar phase cycle (from new Moon to new Moon) is 29.5 days. The Moon spends the extra 2.2 days "catching up" because Earth travels about 45 million miles around the Sun during the time the Moon completes one orbit around Earth." Many Grandmother and Grandfather clocks show moon phases with "29.5" printed usually on the lower right side of the moon phase window.
