I believe the contrary, even though the Lange has more space on the dial the complications make it looks way more busy than the 5270. For me it is a tie, the aesthetic and calmness of the dial of patek vs the engineering and genius of Lange.

The main issue with A. Lange watches lies in their servicing. I purchased a Saxonia (105.025) in the late 90s and had it serviced twice by a professional who wasn't authorized, as there were few authorized dealers in my area at that time, 20 years ago. When the Lange boutique opened near my town a few years ago, I decided to have the watch serviced there. After a 2-month wait, I received a quote for 4000 Euro because they stated that since the watch had been serviced by a third party, they needed to replace the parts, and the regular repair fee did not apply. I own watches from AP, Rolex, Patek, and Piaget, some of which have been in my family for over 50 years. When brought in for service, none of them have cost more than 2000 Euro to service or repair. While I'm willing to pay more for quality watches, charging 4000 Euro to repair a perfectly functional timepiece (which was purchased for 12,000 Euro) is unreasonable. It feels like an attempt to extract excessive money from customers through after-sales service. I've also heard similar horror stories from others who were charged 5000 Euro to service a Lange 1. Frankly, I hope A. Lange will reconsider their service policy. Meanwhile, I'll avoid their services and caution others against getting trapped in a similar situation to mine.

The CEO's of both brands watch such a video and have to let out a slight chuckle. Neither is worried about the other. Patek & Lange could not be more different as brands. Each executes their goals higher than perhaps any other watchmakers. Patek's history, level of precision and value retention needs no explanation. Lange's approach to crafting beautiful movements and engineering innovation really needs no introduction either. One has perfected swiss watchmaking tradition, the other has put german watchmaking in the coveted holy trinity discussion. Both brands will continue to refine and perfect their approach to making the finest timepieces the world has to offer, all while not sweating the other. If anything, the two brands probably serve as inspiration to one another in certain areas of their watchmaking, but I firmly believe that Patek Philippe will always remain the watchmaker that all others are chasing in terms of collectible value, resale value, prestige and watchmaking prowess.
@saxandphone64403 жыл бұрын
Patek Philippe makes a much nicer looking watch when it comes to traditional watch faces. Comparing a Datograph to a 5270, 5204 or even the 5170 there is simply no contest, at least for me. The grand complications from Patek are so much cleaner looking, they are more refined, their lines flow perfectly like the silhouette of a 1960's Jaguar E-Type. The Lange, while still a decently handsome watch, just looks off to me... like comparing a classic Countach LP400 to a Jalpa. Something about those Lange hands just doesn't lend itself very well to the rest of the face and the whole thing is a bit too bulky. The display-back movement of the is Lange definitely on par with the Patek, but the face is really what makes or breaks a watch. I much prefer the off-centered, uniquely German Lange's like the Zeitwerk and Lange 1. Those are watches I would love to own because they are beautiful, uniquely Lange and they are not trying to be something else. Whenever another brand tries to create an 'affordable alternative' to another watch, it never ends up right imho... even if it is Lange making it. Not saying you should drop 300k on a super-complicated Patek, but if that is something that you really want I'm not sure a 70k Lange will truly scratch that itch.
@jrapp14684 жыл бұрын
The hands on the Patek look like cheap plastic where as the hands on the ALS look incredible. This is enough for me to prefer the ALS. I also prefer the large date window on the ALS to the day / month setup on the Patek. Also prefer that incredible gray dial on the ALS. I think both have their strengths on the back, the engraving on the ALS is a differentiator. I will say the Patek has a bit more of a simple, classic luxurious look to it, whereas the ALS is more of tool look IMO. But at the end of the day there is something simply irresistible about the ALS, that is the one I would take. One day...

@@StreetArtistsOfTheWorld I believe the owners of A. Lange and Patek are successful people who are either owners of a highly profitable business, or very well paid professionals. So it's time to think again our day job and if I really want to have A.Lange on my wrist I need to work hard to earn it. I need to contribute more to society by giving service/products/high quality works that make me deserve the tens of thousands pounds to own this fantastic watch. I hope I can make it and so can you, brother.

Without a doubt the A lange is cleverer and maybe better made. But I think the Patek is much prettier. Even more so with the salmon dial, but that only comes on the platinum.

Patek Philippe is one ☝🏻 of luxury watches industry but in this competition the german engineering beat him truly the A .Langa has wide angles more then Philippe in this case I choose the A langa

The rational efficiency in design of the A. Lange & Sohne definitely wins for me. I believe that they're the greatest luxury-grade watchmakers that the world has ever seen.
@Xyrium5 жыл бұрын
ALS is far more of a complicated movement and thus, dial. Sloppy depth cutouts on the Patek is borderline Seiko, as is the simple dial produced by every watch maker under $1k. Patek needs to get back in the game, as it stands right now, I wouldn't consider a Patek if I had to pay for it. That ALS is astoundingly beautiful.

You're really making me second guess that my dream watch is the Patek. I've never looked at an A. Lange & Söhne so close. It's stunning.
@mpetrik15 жыл бұрын
Since Phillipe Dufour is considered the best Master watchmaker in all of Switzerland, I will follow his opinion. In a video he was asked which is the best watch in the world, he chose A. Lange & Sohne. If that doesn’t hold expert weight, nothing does.
@steliosv19993 жыл бұрын
Exterior design wise, AL&S clearly put more detail to things that are quickly noticeable. The “Two floor” dial, date window frame, brand name on top of 12 position looks nice, it has lume which I believe this should be mandatory to every watch. On the other hand, to me the PP movement more beautiful. You can see more action going on which is part of the joy when you know you have a machine with lots of components working together to tell you the time. Every watch like this should also have mandatory glass case back.

Both watches are fantastic! I think I lean towards liking the A. Lange & Söhne much more of the two. Even though the flared lugs on the Patek Philippe interest me slightly more than the lugs on the A. Lange & Söhne, and the Patek Philippe has a little more power reserve... that's about where it ends that I like over the A. Lange & Söhne. Again, both watches look spectacular but Germany won this one for me. They are both simple yet complicated at the same time because it's complicated to look simple with so many features on a watch. The A. Lange & Söhne just has a few extra tricks that stand out in a good way to me over the Patek Philippe. I enjoy your videos, cheers!~

@MrLolmaster101 A third of Germany is Catholic (most German car brands are from Catholic part of Germany, ie. Stuttgart, Munich, Ingolstadt, etc.), while half of Switzerland is Protestant (Geneva is predominantly Protestant). Your argument is invalid.
@Selvariabell5 жыл бұрын
@MrLolmaster101 Cafeteria Catholic, but that is not the point. Also in war, Protestants are without a doubt better commanders, but Catholics are effective cannon-fodder, boots on the ground. Just so you know that at least HALF of the Prussian troops in Königratz are Catholics, and they took the brunt of the fighting, while the Protestant troops were held in reserve, only being unleashed when the Austrians basically began their bayonet charge, (imagine a Banzai-charge). Same case with the British, Irish troops made up a huge percentage of the British Army, almost half matter of fact.

I’m in a privileged position that I work with these two brands daily. Work with not own, I can’t afford them. I can tell you that in my opinion the A. Lange wins the debate aesthetically But that’s where it ends. The PP is smoother, more accurate and has a better power reserve.
@MrFrontsidebus2 жыл бұрын
For more power reserve and accuracy go Casio Quarz. A watch of this level wants to be touched, wants to be wound fequently. So power reserve is not a problem

Lange beats each and every Patek. I've heared that even Patek calls datograph as the best chronograph. Lange date window is awesome. However, here my vote is dwindling because the month and day window in datograph is bit messy.
