I remember when the first episode of this "podcast" came out and I was "wtf? Where's my talking hands?" and now I absolutely love this program, it grew on me especially with the diversity it offers with topics and even the guests, this was a fun lighthearted episode that I relate to, my wife wasn't into watches and right now she understands them and it about to buy her first fancy watch, which happens to be a Cartier lol
@davidschurk92962 жыл бұрын
Yes, I enjoyed Charlotte's perspective and think the program would do well with more of her. She has a very relaxing voice that compliments your own. Its also very interesting to to see how her interest has progressed and evolved. My wife went from a person who had a nice quarts watch before cell phones to some who can't be bothered to wear one and doesn't have any interest in looking for herself or as a gift. My daughter is the same way at 25. My son at 23 has a definate interest in watches, but prefers quartz because he doesn'always ware one and likes grab and go. I feel naked without a watch and have an apreciation for all types. Thanks for the show and keeping it interesting.

Welcome Charlotte! Clearly not a total novice but someone who's interest in watches bas been piqued somewhat. It's strange how we get into this watch hobby. I've always worn a watch as an adult but I think it was my ex girlfriend who gave it a little nudge forward. Now I have more watches than wrists. Oddly my sister who didn't seem bothered about watches a few years ago now also has more watches than wrists. I put the blame purely on my ex but am also very grateful to her as well as I can talk for hours about different aspects of watches and notice some people looking for an escape(ment) from me as I go on and on. You should definitely bring Charlotte back.

So much fun to hear from Charlotte, please have her back and more female guests would be nice too! I am a female watch enthusiast and just got into the hobby about a year ago. The first watch I bought for myself was a Chopard Happy Sport Sun Moon & Stars, very playful watch with the dancing diamonds in between two sapphire crystals and ticks all the boxes for me in terms of aesthetics and something different, it also has a display caseback with a rather nicely decorated in-house movement. Admittedly I knew very little about watches at the time, and this is probably not the most instinctive choice for a ladies’ first watch acquisition, but I love it and it will always be special to me! Since then I’ve progressed to learn more about movements, complications and brands with horological significance, and have really enjoyed the ride researching and hunting down a Blancpain rattrapante chronograph and a Patek ladies’ annual calendar, and with production years which are meaningful to me. I am also hoping to add a JLC Grande Taille Reverso to my small collection very soon, the proportions are perfect for my tiny 145mm wrist. I feel like I am diving deep into the hobby at an astonishing pace, but I am not complaining! Contrary to stereotypes, my husband wasn’t into watches but it is also growing on him with all the watch videos I’ve been forcing him to watch lol He has recently acquired his first watch - a Rolex GMT Master II Pepsi, so it looks like we will have a very diverse combined collection to grow together!

Charlotte seems like a super awesome person! She reminds me of my lady friend who used to HATE watches. Why is unimportant, but she hated them regardless. So I started showing her my collection, and how I would change the straps on my Planet Ocean, she seemed to be really impressed with y Aqua Terra, and slowly she started asking questions about my "Timey-wimey-wrist thing". I explained that watches are like functional bangles that you can customize. She's in her 50s, but loves Lara Croft, so as a gambit, I found a near perfect with box and papers Tissot Z251 T-Touch...the watch Angelina Jolie wore in the first Tomb Raider movie. She hated the bracelet, but we changed the strap and now she only takes it off to shower, and she asks me about different watches, and actually wants a Moonswatch now, and she aims to get a Mondaine Stop2Go as soon as she gets her tax return. Watches as therapy!

After owning a GMT and OP for almost 10 years I wanted to get myself a Hulk for my 60th birthday, about 2 weeks later I came across a page about high end clones and decided to give it a try. Once came I compared it to my original GMT (in terms of quality, feeling of the steel etc), I understood one thing, China can't be beaten. There is no chance ANYONE will be able to spot it as a fake, Even the inside movement is identical. The build quality and finish put a lot of legitimate Swiss brands to shame.

I subtly introduced my girlfriend to watches by buying her a Tissot Memphis for Christmas. Not the most complicated thing in the world, but a fun little Quartz one with a quirky dial, and a unique look sure to brighten any collection - particularly on the optional pink rubber strap. £300 spent and a trip to London, queueing unsuccessfully for the MoonSwatch, later I have caught her looking at more advanced watches on several occasions. It's subtly growing into a mutual hobby!

My suggestion for Charlotte's next watch would be an Omega Constellation Co-Axial Chronometer 36mm (or if she prefers a larger watch presence, the 39mm). Very versatile watch and well made as well. There are integrated bracelet versions or she can choose one with a leather strap. It has a sapphire caseback to show off the co-axial movement since she appreciates looking at the Cartier's movement. Big bonus is that she can walk into an Omega boutique/AD and buy one there and then.

Very excited for my girlfriends birthday because I have bought her a watch as she hasn’t got one. I found it in a charity shop and it is unbranded but the movement is majex and I think it is an era watch. It has trench lugs so put a red nato strap on it and it looks amazing. It’s always fun trying to find a watch for somone but this Art Deco peice I think will really suit her. Also it says unbreakable on the dial so that’s handy too. Keep up the great videos.

Funny how you start. My Grandfather suggested my first childhood watch should be a Timex. It was a simple white dial with red hands and large black numerals. It wasn't an Expedition, but looked a bit simpler and less rugged than that, with a black leather strap, which regularly got replaced every couple of years. Then later, he gave me one of his old pocket watches, that he saved from the junk and repaired himself. I have no idea what happened to them, but I'd guess they'd be worth something now.
