I've recently got a bit tired of the watch industry, as you can over consume it on YT, but watching this vid has given me a spring back in my step again. I have known about them from about 5/6 years ago, but shrugged them off as being too expensive for a micro brand, but boy was I wrong. These watches are beautiful, the colour selection is sublime, it's not just the colour but the tone of the colour, as they have said it so is down to the attention to the small things, the only problem now is deciding what one to purchase!

That’s a huge problem for me too! So far I’ve bought the Lander IV and their New Worldtimer just arrived and is stunning. This moon phase might be next on my list. I want to branch out to other brands as well, but Farer seems to hit it out of the park.😊 I wonder what their next step will be? Their competitor Christopher Ward, which is also an awesome watch brand which I’m eyeing is introducing in-house movements and innovating on hourly chimes. I hope Farer keeps up and starts doing their own in-house movement as they grow
@FarerUniversal7 ай бұрын
@@vjbhatia77 We can confirm we currently have zero plans to produce an in-house movement. Thought there is nothing wrong with a brand innovating with their own movement, we're more than happy with using highly reliable calibres from established manufacturers.

Good video/ interview. I just received my 1st Farer, a Carnegie Chrono, as a gift & love it! Really like the colors, top spec materials & components & the attention to detail. I own Tudor, Longines & Seiko Prospex watches & think the Farer holds its own with these. Looking forward to expanding my collection!

Got a Farer last year - Kano Lander GMT. Perfect summer watch. Edit: if anyone from Farer is reading this, please make a TeaMaster watch for those of us who need a reminder to get the cuppa from the kitchen after 10 minutes have elapsed. Currently I use a precision German instrument rated for 5,000m WR with a bezel to get my tea - but I'd prefer something English from Farer.

I was in the market for a moonphase watch. In the running were many outstanding and breathtaking examples - The Christopher Ward C1 Moonphase (realistic moon in a field of aventurine), The upcoming Raymond Weil Millesime Moonphase (as a pre-order. such a solid choice for a dress watch), echo/neutra Averau 39mm Moon Phase (dial looks like sci-fi instrumentation to me - which is a plus), Ball Trainmaster Moon Phase (with its delightful use of colored tritium), and the Farer (Burbidge) Moonphase. In the end the subtle and deliberate design elements of the Farer seemed more lyrically evocative for me - particularly the subtle soft glow of a luminescent hand-painted moon in the dark. This interview only made my choice clear, and I made my purchase online 5 minutes ago.

I don’t (yet) own one but I like the Farer range, especially the small GMTs. Not as well known as many microbrands so I’ve needed to point several people towards the brand. Normal people that just want a nice watch, not enthusiasts like us. At some point I’ll persuade myself that I really do need a blue dial Farer GMT!

I was becoming convinced by this brand until 27:28 - how can that ‘VIII’ marker pass QC? The ‘I’s are clearly misaligned. But then I look on the website and the sample on there has exactly the same problem. Is this considered to be acceptable quality from Farer?

Some micro brands go quite far - but this micro brand takes it FARER... Very interesting brand from the UK - I have the impression that they stand out in comparison to german, austrian, swiss and japanese micros... Probably I give them a chance to enter my collection.

I have a Farer Pendine which I bought from them two or three years ago. It is the finest-looking watch I have ever owned and it has worked fine until fairly recently; in fact it has stopped working and the battery I had changed has not made a difference. This could be something and nothing. However it's something I don't want to trust to just any watchmaker and so I contacted them on their website to describe the problem and ask for help. No reply and no phone number to try. So I tried once again, no reply. I have tried four times now and no-one has replied. Such a shame for a company that offers truly original designs.

Frustrates me that they have practically no sizing between 39.5 and 36, especially because the lug to lug is also quite short making the wearability a little bit of a mystery. Also, not a creamy/tan dial in sight. Nothing but strange color ways besides the 3 hand options.
@thegorn4 ай бұрын
I wished they had better steel bracelets. I also think they shouldn't name every colorway individually. Just name the whole line, and then go with color after that. There's just too many names!

I'd be bold to say that watches "with a story" is painfully overrated, and just a shamless way to charge obcene amounts of money for mass produced stuff. Note that I don hate on Farer for this. Farer still keeps this kind of tasteful, but there are so many brands that live on this joke. Used watches that rise in price because of that that specific watch was military issue etc is one thing. But a plain Speedmaster costs almost 9 000 dollars on their Swedish webstore. Like... What? You were the first watch on the moon - I get it. But is it worth it that you have a 95% overhead on that mass produced, artificially limited stock wristwatch? And that was the cheapest one! Let's just say there's a reason I love the Moonswatch. A big middle finger to those who defend the comical pricing levels that Omega, Rolex and all those Swiss brands that are so full of themself have. Reacted on this a while back when you had a thing about all these near-identical field watch makers, that made watches that looked like the ones issued to US soldiers during some era. "It's an old historic design". BAM. Charge like 3-4000 dollars for a VERY basic plain watch. What history was it? They sold hundreds of thousands of them as they were the lowest bidders. Now it's all of a sudden a luxury item. How did that happen?
