Girls Aloud were formed in 2002 from a TV show in the UK called "Popstars:The Rivals". A lot of male and female contestants competed to join 2 groups at the end, a girl band and a boy band. The 2 groups then competed to get the Christmas no.1 in the UK. Sound of the Underground was the girls debut single and was the Christmas no.1 with the boy band "One True Voice" getting the no.2 single on the chart. Girls Aloud then went on to great success in the following 10 years.

THE 4th biggest western girl band! My favourites! Ten years of perfect brit pop! They have a specific sound, all cheesy first singles and then albums of GOLD and like perfect popstars they made every tour a dvd experience and ARE STILL the BEST live girl group experience of the naughties. Please GOD PLEASEEEE react to their concerts cuz they’re all dvd and all on KZbin and you’ll see why they ruled the country for 10 years and then Cheryl went in to be our biggest solo popstar ever.

It's funny you said you liked the video for Something Kinda Ooooh as they had so much more planned for it but they ran out of time and had to scrap a lot of scenes. They have since said they don't care much for the finished product that they ended up with. Luckily though, the song overshadows the video as opposed to the other way around!

Girls Aloud were what I would call the "next generation" Spice Girls, despite coming out only two-years after the Spice Girls' last release, but they definitely filled the gap left by the group, and had their own very unique sound! It's a shame they never broke out internationally. I do think they, along with the Sugababes, could've gained some kind of success.

Sugababes actually were very very popular internationally. Them and atomic kitten had mega popularity outside of Europe. Girls aloud were only popular across parts of Europe which was sad tbh.

Eeek I actually squealed with joy when Something Kinda Ooh came on 😱😍 soooo glad you enjoyed it so much, it's a frickin anthem imo. Equally glad you enjoyed their debut Sound of the Underground 😍 to come from a reality tv show (Pop Idol) with such a killer track and then to maintain a very solid 10 year career after was and still is amazing imo. Most of their singles hit top 10 in the UK and I'm pretty sure they had the record for girl group top 10 hits up until Little Mix. They topped the Spice Girls success here in the UK, granted they were around longer but I feel they're very underrated. I'm hoping for some live performance reactions as they genuinely deliver in that aspect. Thanks for another fab reaction ❤

Fellow fan here! I agree with you. GA success is different than Spice Girls. In terms of chart success with nine number 1’s in UK Spice Girls are unmatchable. Meanwhile GA are also household names, their sound is bold and they have an endless amount of top 10 hits and.

Sound of the Underground has got to be one of the best debut songs of all time! Set up some absolute bangers for the next decade! And when you think that the track and video were recorded just days after the group was formed, and way before they became more polished with looks and performing together together … just epic!

I love Girls Aloud, I've seen them live a couple of times (first and last tours as concerts fuel my anxiety so I try to avoid them) plus I've met them all together as a band ❤ Their first 3 singles were really cool, quite edgy compared to what was out and mainstream at the time. Then they turned really tacky for a while, then went back to being cool! They had an amazing career. I just wish things had ended differently for Sarah. Such a sin she passed away, and before her 40th birthday too ☹

I think Somthing kinda oooh was original 3 different songs or something, then it was made into one, and the dance was like made up on the day, cant remember exactly, but they where not prepared at all for the video, but it ended up being a absolutely banger!

From what I could find on your channel, you haven't done "The Loving Kind" yet...that's their best song/video imo, has a different vibe from their other stuff. I don't think you did "Biology" yet either, a way-cute song/video, and then "The Promise" is a must. I'm a big Euro-pop fan, you've done some Atomic Kitten and The Saturdays, but there's a lot more from both you must get to...Cheers!
